Historia
Millicent understands the terms of her arranged marriage all too well. She gets to be a Countess by marrying an impoverished Earl. And in return, the Earl Fitzhugh receives the benefit of her vast wealth, saving his family from bankruptcy. Because of her youth, they have agreed to wait eight years before consummating the marriage--and then, only to beget an heir. After which, they will lead separate lives. It is a most sensible arrangement. Except for one little thing.

Well, I'm half way through.... The husband is an ass. His long lost love is a bitch. The wife is a doormat. I'm struggling to finish it. Maybe I will. Maybe I won't.

Cute Story
Revisado: 08-02-21
I am not really a cat person, although there is one that lives in my house. The author does a good job of trying to capture the aloofness of the feline beast. The story line is coherent and provides a level of amusement of a human hanging out in the cat world for a while. The author also is not shy about the level of predation of felines. Certainly not a story for little ones. A naked woman in the cat cage at the end was a funny twist.
The narrator does a most excellent job of capturing the moods and characters of the various beasts. As usual, the possum gets abused....clever but slow. She provides good tonal variety with the various cats and mixes up the meter as the story progresses.
All in all, a pleasant short diversion!

Financial Literacy
Revisado: 04-28-21
The book "Live Well, Grow Wealth" is a very basic primer on how one may financially manage his resources in order to move to a more prosperous state of existence. I would love to say that it is mandatory reading for teens and young married couples. Sadly, I know lots and lots of fully grown adults who could benefit from it. I boils down to having a plan, living within your means and learning delayed gratification. All of those traits or qualities are sadly absent from much of our society. As an old guy, I learned these valuable common sense lessons from my Depression Era parents. It does not seem that those lessons are taught any more.
The narrator did a most excellent job! She spoke clearly and articulately. Pauses at all the right places and I did not catch any mispronounced words or phrases. She has a very pleasant voice and even when relaying the most basic information, she did not condescend to the audience. I would like to hear how she does on other non-fiction or even fiction. Alternate voices are a hot harder....
All in all, a big hoorah for both author and narrator. Now, how to get it out to the tens of millions of financial illiterates in the country.

Looking back at all the 5 star ratings, I have to conclude that these are the friends and family crowd. The sex was great! The story line was flaky. The narration was terrible. No rhythm, no tempo. Lots of mispronounced words. But, the sex was great. I think I'd have to tell ya to save your credit.

Historia
More than a year after she helped save the world from the Sparnaxian invasion, Andrea Vernon is in a good place. Her boss is giving her greater responsibility and she’s getting to travel a lot (although her fill-in is hopeless at making coffee); things could be getting even more serious with her 8’ 4” superhero boyfriend, The Big Axe; and she has a really fun new BFF, Never More. Small issue, though, with that last item - Never More is a supervillain bent on world domination, and it looks as if nothing can stop her.

Totally inane
Revisado: 05-10-19
The story is inane. The voices of the various villains (and superheroes) are incredibly annoying. After about an hour, I couldn't take it any more and returned the book.

Throughout these books, Follett has followed the fortunes of five intertwined families - American, German, Russian, English, and Welsh - as they make their way through the twentieth century. Now they come to one of the most tumultuous eras of all: the enormous social, political, and economic turmoil of the 1960s through the 1980s, from civil rights, assassinations, mass political movements and Vietnam to the Berlin Wall, the Cuban Missile Crisis, presidential impeachment, revolution - and rock and roll.

How The Mighty have Fallen
Revisado: 11-27-14
What disappointed you about Edge of Eternity?
Follett has decided to openly allow his biases destroy what could have been an excellent and engaging story. Philandering democrats are heroes. Conservatives who actually accomplish anything are corrupt, crooked or stupid. Parts 1 & 2 were fairly balanced and told a good story. This one just became tedious....I already knew what what coming and how it would be spun. I guess henceforth, I shall have to avoid Mr. Follett. I choose to vote with my wallet.
What does John Lee bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
As always, a most superb reader!
