Historia
They don't know who he really is. They never know where he'll show up. But the citizens of Gotham City know they have a protector. He's the Caped Crusader with an arsenal of amazing weaponry and a repertoire of incredible acrobatics. He's the legend they call Batman. In the toxic brew of big-city corruption, a bone-white, green-haired, eternally grinning thing is born. His name is The Joker. His lust is for all the wealth, power, and revenge he can grab from the world. In the war between criminal and crimefighter, Batman vs. The Joker will be the ultimate duel.

Ever Dance with the Devil in the pale moonlight?
Revisado: 06-16-24
A streamlined mediocre adaptation of Batman 89. The Joker is story’s primary focus and Batman is hardly in this. What saves this story is Roddy McDowall. He is a phenomenal actor and he give it his all. I would recommend this purely for his performance.

With an arsenal of amazing weaponry and a repertoire of incredible acrobatics, he is the legend they call Batman. In a toxic brew of big-city corruption, a bone-white, green-haired, eternally grinning clown is born. His name is the Joker. Charting the origins of the Dark Knight and early battles between the Caped Crusader and the Clown Prince of Crime, Batman depicts the timeless, violent war between criminal and crimefighter, Batman vs. the Joker.

Historia
The Muad'Dib's jihad is in full swing. His warrior legions march from victory to victory. But beneath the joy of victory there are dangerous undercurrents. Paul, like nearly every great conqueror, has enemies - those who would betray him to steal the awesome power he commands. Paul himself begins to have doubts: Is the jihad getting out of his control? Has he created anarchy? Has he been betrayed by those he loves and trusts the most? And most of all, he wonders: Am I going mad?

Fun

It contradicts Dune in multiple places but it wasn’t terrible. I could have done without the Young Paul adventures but filling in the gaps with Mauid’Dib’s Jihad was interesting.

Historia
There is a common belief that we live in unprecedented times, that people are too sensitive today, that nobody objected to the actions of actors, comedians, and filmmakers in the past. Modern pundits would have us believe that Americans of a previous generation had tougher skin and seldom complained. But does this argument hold up to scrutiny? In Outrageous, celebrated cultural historian Kliph Nesteroff demonstrates that Americans have been objecting to entertainment for nearly two hundred years, sometimes rationally, often irrationally.

A great history of the culture wars. I enjoyed this book and its look at controversy and comedy through the days of vaudeville to the modern era.

Historia
The tales of The Silmarillion are set in an age when Morgoth, the first Dark Lord, dwelt in Middle-earth, and the High Elves made war upon him for the recovery of the Silmarils, the jewels containing the pure light of Valinor. Included on the recording are several shorter works. The Ainulindalë is a myth of the Creation and in the Valaquenta the nature and powers of each of the gods is described. The Akallabêth recounts the downfall of the great island kingdom of Númenor at the end of the Second Age, and Of the Rings of Power tells of the great events at the end of the Third Age.

Andy Serkis is phenomenal
Revisado: 08-27-23
Don’t expect the Hobbit or Lord of the Rings. This is a dense text that reads like part history/ religious text. There’s interesting and cool moments but it’s really for the die hard Tolkien fan. Andy Serkis does a great job and I doubt I would have finished without his performance.
