Historia
It’s a beautiful day in Newport, Rhode Island, when Phoebe Stone arrives at the grand Cornwall Inn wearing a green dress and gold heels, not a bag in sight, alone. She's immediately mistaken by everyone in the lobby for one of the wedding people, but she’s actually the only guest at the Cornwall who isn’t here for the big event. Phoebe is here because she’s dreamed of coming for years—she hoped to shuck oysters and take sunset sails with her husband, only now she’s here without him, at rock bottom, and determined to have one last decadent splurge on herself.

Interesting storytelling
Revisado: 02-04-25
It’s an interesting way to tell a story that you’ve heard time and time again. It starts sad and ends happy, albeit predictable. Overall, it was a great story with full characters. I loved the juxtaposition of Phoebe and Lila. Phoebe being the matter of fact person and Lila being the over the top, shallow one. Their friendship is clearly one-sided but they help each other grow and realize what they actually want instead of what everyone around them wants. I’d be interested to read a sequel that follows Gary and Phoebe as well as Jim and Lila.
I’ve listened to many books and I’ve never been able to tell when the recording was re-recorded or edited. It was very obvious throughout this book that lines were spliced together, even mid-sentence. The volume and tone of her voice did not match. That was jarring at times and very evident when listened to through headphones but I think that is more of a production error than one that fall on the reader or author.

Very dark and disturbing
Revisado: 12-10-24
I have to admit that I was warned that this book was dark but I still wasn’t prepared for how dark and disturbing that it was. I liked how the story wrapped up, including the some of the bonus material that expanded on Julia’s final day. Claire got on my nerves with the amount of time it took her to get to Lydia considering she knew that Paul took her and what he was capable of doing but I loved the Lydia’s strength and resilience. I could have enjoyed less of their dad’s journal entries even though they were somewhat necessary for character development. Also, the fact that the mom knew how Julie died and she never told them was also awful. Unfortunately, I know people like Paul exist in the world but I think he deserved to die even slower and more painful than he did for the years of torture and abuse that he subjected all those women to. It was hard to read/listen to the abuse so trigger warning if you are, or know of, a victim of sexual abuse, torture, or murder. I’m a true crime fan but this was rough to get through. Touché to the author for showing the dark side. I can only hope she, herself, never had to experience people like Paul. I wouldn’t wish that abuse on my worst enemy.

Sydney Shaw, like every single woman in New York, has terrible luck with dating. She’s seen it all: men who lie in their dating profile, men who stick her with the dinner bill, and worst of all, men who can't shut up about their mothers. But finally, she hits the jackpot. Her new boyfriend is utterly perfect. He's charming, handsome, and works as a doctor at a local hospital. Sydney is swept off her feet. Then the brutal murder of a young woman—the latest in a string of deaths across the coast—confounds police. The primary suspect? A mystery man who dates his victims before he kills them.

Really enjoyed this book. I thought I knew who was the killer but I was wrong. The narration was cheesy at times but the book was great. Love the is author!

I loved everything about this book including the narration. I’m a reader and it’s hard to get me to cry while reading but this is one of those books. I found their nicknames endearing, the story riveting, and simply fell in love with the whole town of Knockemount. I’m excited to finish the series with the Morgan brothers and their significant others.

Historia
Emma Townsend can sum up her situationship with hot-as-hell romantic red flag Finn Hughes in one word: almost. They almost dated in high school. They almost hooked up after college. They almost took things too far one magical night. Their whole story is one series of “almosts” and “nearlys,” and now they just kind of can’t stand each other. Like, at all. But this weekend, one of their mutuals is getting married...and Emma and Finn will have to pretend they don’t remember how disastrous it was the last time they were in a room together.

Overall, very impressed but with one slight irritation
Revisado: 07-23-24
Pleasantly surprised but this book for the most part. It was fun and entertaining, relatable and enjoyable with one slightly irritation at the end. If it is setting us up for a sequel, touché but I would have liked to know what happened on prom night and at the wedding. I loved Finn and Emma and thoroughly enjoyed the situationship of almosts and the journey of self discovery. I hate to say it but it did remind me a little of a certain someone with the TV show and the designing bits but I loved the clause at the end that said it was coincidental. As a fan of HB from the TV days, I felt like a proud momma reading this book. Girlfriend did good!

King crab fisherman Fox Thornton has a reputation as a sexy, carefree flirt. Everyone knows he’s a guaranteed good time—in bed and out—and that’s exactly how he prefers it. Until he meets Hannah Bellinger. She’s immune to his charm and looks, but she seems to enjoy his… personality? And wants to be friends? Bizarre. But he likes her too much to risk a fling, so platonic pals it is. Now, Hannah's in town for work, crashing in Fox’s spare bedroom. She knows he’s a notorious ladies’ man, but they’re definitely just friends.

Very cute story. Loved their love story. Not a fan of the pronunciation of Hannah. It almost turned me off completely. I had to restart this book several times because of it. Overall though, loved the book itself.

Colton stole my heart. He wasn't supposed to, and I sure as hell didn't want him to, but he crashed into my life, ignited feelings within me that I thought had died forever, and fueled a passion that I never knew could exist. Rylee fell out of that damn storage closet and into my life. Now I don't think I'll ever be the same. She's seen glimpses of the darkness within me, and yet she's still here. Still fighting for me. She is without a doubt the saint, and I am most definitely the sinner.

Historia
It was one of the most searing images of the twentieth century: two young boys, two princes, walking behind their mother’s coffin as the world watched in sorrow—and horror. As Princess Diana was laid to rest, billions wondered what Prince William and Prince Harry must be thinking and feeling—and how their lives would play out from that point on.

Heartbreaking, Riveting, and Insightful
Revisado: 03-15-23
It definitely took some guts to write this book but I’m sure it was equally therapeutic. I enjoyed the inside look at his life and how he undoubtedly felt second best throughout it, the undying love he has for his family and have a new understanding of the trauma he felt after his mom’s death and the unrelenting torture of the media throughout his life. I completely understand why he felt like his had to write this book and the cathartic feeling he must have felt getting his truth out in his own words. It’s a must read for anyone who cares about a real inside look of the Royal Family and how the British press will go to unprecedented lengths to protect their most valuable asset(s).

Jess needs a fresh start. She’s broke and alone, and she’s just left her job under less than ideal circumstances. Her half-brother Ben didn’t sound thrilled when she asked if she could crash with him for a bit, but he didn’t say no, and surely everything will look better from Paris. Only when she shows up – to find a very nice apartment, could Ben really have afforded this? – he’s not there.

Thrilling, interesting, and different
Revisado: 03-15-23
I have never read any Lucy Foley books but I heard good things about this one and it didn’t disappoint. I loved the narration (I’m a sucker for a British accent) and the storytelling in general. I enjoyed the unusual depiction of Paris and the dark undertones through the book. I found myself yelling at Jess at times or just audibly speaking out loud when listening but overall, it was a riveting book that held my interest. Looking forward to reading/listening to another book by her.
