Historia
Every year the people of the Protectorate leave a baby as an offering to the witch who lives in the forest. They hope this sacrifice will keep her from terrorizing their town. But the witch in the forest, Xan, is kind and gentle. She shares her home with a wise Swamp Monster named Glerk and a Perfectly Tiny Dragon, Fyrian. Xan rescues the abandoned children and delivers them to welcoming families on the other side of the forest, nourishing the babies with starlight on the journey.

I'm so glad I stayed with it
Revisado: 07-07-22
It took me a couple tries to get into The Girl Who Drank The Moon, but once I got going, it was wonderful. It's a YA novel but it beautifully handles topics like love and loss, hope and sorrow, and what makes a family.

volume control
Revisado: 01-20-22
I really enjoyed this title and the narrator, BUT the voices changed from whispers to yells and back again all the time and I was constantly adjusting my volume so I wasn't deafened but also so I could hear the story.

I wept
Revisado: 12-08-21
It takes a lot to make me cry when it comes to books, but the characters in this book captured my heart. I'm not ashamed to admit that I wept for them.

Historia
It's America in 1962. Slavery is legal once again. The few Jews who still survive hide under assumed names. In San Francisco, the I Ching is as common as the Yellow Pages. All because some twenty years earlier the United States lost a war - and is now occupied by Nazi Germany and Japan.

I love Teri Terry!
Revisado: 06-10-21
I finished the Slated series by Teri Terry and struggled to find another book to really capture my attention until this! She's a great world builder and creates compelling characters.

part of the Slated series
Revisado: 05-15-21
This was a prequel to the Slated trilogy. Despite having just finished that series, I was surprised by this compelling story. I basically knew what was going to happen, but was delighted by each turn.
