Historia
The Enneagram is an ancient personality type system with an uncanny accuracy in describing how human beings are wired, both positively and negatively. In The Road Back to You, Ian Morgan Cron and Suzanne Stabile forge a unique approach - a practical, comprehensive way of accessing Enneagram wisdom and exploring its connections with Christian spirituality for a deeper knowledge of God and of ourselves.

Helpful concerning personalities despite heresy
Revisado: 03-07-25
The authors clearly and cleverly delineated the structure of the enneagram, and the narration was enjoyable. However, any book that claims that sin is merely failing to live up to one's authentic self will miss the mark when it comes to solutions, and so this book ultimately failed in it's attempt to help people find solutions to their personality's wounding messages.

Historia
As a 14-year-old who just moved to a new town, with no friends and a louse for an older brother, Doug Swieteck has all the stats stacked against him. So begins a coming-of-age masterwork full of equal parts comedy and tragedy from Newbery Honor winner Gary D. Schmidt. As Doug struggles to be more than the skinny thug that his teachers and the police think him to be, he finds an unlikely ally in Lil Spicer, a fiery young lady who smelled like daisies would smell if they were growing in a big field under a clearing sky after a rain.

Heartbreaking but hopeful still
Revisado: 08-17-24
How a young thug on the path to the criminal life is transformed by the love of a community and unexpected beauty. I am a middle school teacher and this book has made me more compassionate because I was able to live inside the head of a young middle school let facing very difficult circumstances but wanting to be different. Fantastically acted. You will never regret getting to know Doug Switch.

A hopeful, heart-string-tugging, and humerous journey through grief
Revisado: 05-26-24
Delve into the hilarious and heartfelt mind of an American 6th grader as he adjust to having a butler who insists on him learning "the most glorious game known to mankind," cricket. The voice acting perfectly captured both the attitude of a middle schooler and the dry disapproval of a "gentleman's gentleman." Do not miss this story's delightful characters, phenomenal writing, and gentle wisdom.

Revisado: 10-24-22
A wonderful blend of personal stories and reflections and wisdom gleaned from literature and philosophy. I often leave such genres of books feeling discouraged, but because she grounded happiness in the reality of God's love, I ended the book with more courage to trust God and live out the gifts he gave me.

Delightful story for reading alone or aloud!
Revisado: 06-15-22
A wonderful story of brotherly and fatherly love. Set in 1400s Korea, it was a delightful introduction to Korean history. The language was simple enough for a 3-4th graders to read on their own, but it also adroitly introduced here in there a higher level words.
Narration excellently captured the joy of the story.

Historia
This is the first volume in a bold new series that tells the stories of all peoples, connecting historical events from Europe to the Middle East to the far coast of China, while still giving weight to the characteristics of each country. Susan Wise Bauer provides both sweeping scope and vivid attention to the individual lives that give flesh to abstract assertions about human history. This narrative history employs the methods of "history from beneath" - literature, epic traditions, private letters, and accounts - to connect kings and leaders with the lives of those they ruled.

A witty telling of the story of humanity's ideas of the important issues of life - origin, theology, destiny, and authority - and the end results of them. Susan Wise Bauer's dry humor is perfectly portrayed by John Lee's masterful narration.

Historia
Alisa Childers never thought she would question her Christian faith. She was raised in a Christian home, where she had seen her mom and dad feed the hungry, clothe the homeless, and love the outcast. She had witnessed God at work and then had dedicated her own life to leading worship as part of the popular Christian band ZOEgirl. All that was deeply challenged when she met a progressive pastor who called himself a hopeful agnostic. Another Gospel? describes the intellectual journey Alisa took over several years as she wrestled with a series of questions.

The book I was wanting
Revisado: 11-15-20
I had been wanting to have a book that helped me understand how well known Christians who grew up thinking very much like me could leave historic Christianity for the non-Christian version offered by progressives. Alisa's honest look at her childhood past and recent past in having to face significant challenges to give both the story and the apologetics of why historic Christianity is true. Every modern Christian should read this book to understand the times.
