Historia
Hillbilly Elegy is a passionate and personal analysis of a culture in crisis - that of white working-class Americans. The decline of this group, a demographic of our country that has been slowly disintegrating over 40 years, has been reported on with growing frequency and alarm but has never before been written about as searingly from the inside. J. D. Vance tells the true story of what a social, regional, and class decline feels like when you were born with it hung around your neck.

This book and story is both heartbreaking and inspirational. Highly recommended reading to anyone who feels like the American dream has been lost.

Fascinating unknown story
Revisado: 01-30-24
Amazing narration. Great story. Much learned from this book about a largely unknown person who made such a huge pact on history.

Historia
The Long Run begins with the story of Ben Andrews and his quest to become one of America's top milers, a quest that starts strongly, but seems doomed when he later faces obstacle after obstacle, not the least of which are his own fears and insecurities. Ben often finds that his dreams–both athletically and later in business–seem just beyond his reach. But each time he is ready to quit, an unlikely mentor comes his way to tell him "not yet".

Please read this book!

I started listening to this book from a suggestion from a co-worker. I’m glad I did. For the first two and half hours I laughed, I smiled, got a lump in my throat and was taken into a world so different from my own. Ben’s story is challenging and inspiring! He walks you through his highs and lows of a competitive athlete, but at the end of the day you find a loving and compassionate man wanting to bring glory to God. We’ll done!
