Historia
Drs. Barbara Oakley and Terrence Sejnowski's popular Online course Learning How to Learn, has enrolled more than 1.8 million students. In this much needed follow-up to A Mind for Numbers, the authors teach kids and teens how to learn effectively at a time when they most need these skills. Learning How to Learn teaches them about the importance of both focused concentration and letting their minds wander, how the brain makes connections between different pieces of information, why procrastination is the enemy of problem solving, and much more.

So many words, yet very little specificity on the subject. The actual statements related to learning how to learn would probably fit on one page. For some unknown reason, the author repeatedly attempts to elaborate on neuroscience, but the oversimplifications render certain statements inaccurate even false. I say unknown because understanding neuroscience is not necessary to develop good learning habits. Furthermore, there are plenty of good books on neuroscience for those who want insight into that. So, it appears the author struggles to stay on topic. This book is not well-composed.

Historia
You learn a few useful things at school - the three Rs come in handy, and it's good to know how to perform under pressure and wait your turn - but most of what matters, what makes you into a functioning human being, able to hold your own in conversation, find your path, know what to avoid in relationships and secure a meaningful job, no teacher will ever tell you. This diamond-sharp, gut-punchingly honest book of hard-earned wisdom is one mother's effort to equip her daughter for survival in the real world.

The book probably brings little value to others than the writer and intended reader, her daughter and I don’t really understand why it’s published.

Historia
‘It was a sweet finish after the bitter pills of floggings and bullets with which these same governments, just at that time, dosed the German working-class risings’. The Communist Manifesto is, perhaps surprisingly, a most engaging and accessible work, containing even the odd shaft of humour in this translation by Samuel Moore for the 1888 English edition.

Pile of rubbish
Revisado: 04-30-22
Hugely disappointed. This work does not deserve the level of attention it has - by far. The work carries no artistic value - the wording is plain and non-inspiring. I’d expect more. Far more. From a literature perspective an F.

Should be thought in schools world wide
Revisado: 09-16-21
This book and it’s subject should be in reading lists of schools world wide. I sincerely hope the west has a plan to counter CCP’s ambitions.
