Historia
The Reaper is a legend, more myth than man: the savior of worlds, the leader of the Rising, the breaker of chains. But the Reaper is also Darrow, born of the red soil of Mars: a husband, a father, a friend. The worlds once needed the Reaper. But now they need Darrow. Because after the dark age will come a new age: of light, of victory, of hope.

An exceptional tale
Revisado: 03-14-25
It is difficult to overstate how well this story is written. When fiction can evoke such emotion, you know it is done right. The Red Rising series has cemented itself as one of if not my favorite series of all time. I cannot wait to see how it all ends up in Red God. Thank you, Pierce Brown.

Truly masterful storytelling

A wonderful finale to a wonderful series. This trilogy was my first venture into A. Ryan’s works and will surely not be my last.

Fantastic World Building with the Twists and Turns to Match
Revisado: 09-21-24
John Gwynne does a wonderful job of not just telling the reader what is happening, but really describing it. His tales often have epic battles and and involve incredibly consequential choices that leave the reader’s dropping. I can’t wait to listen to the rest!

Historia
The world is no longer safe for the Dragon Rider Murtagh and his dragon, Thorn. An evil king has been toppled, and they are left to face the consequences of the reluctant role they played in his reign of terror. Now they are hated and alone, exiled to the outskirts of society. Throughout the land, hushed voices whisper of brittle ground and a faint scent of brimstone in the air—and Murtagh senses that something wicked lurks in the shadows of Alagaësia. So begins an epic journey into lands both familiar and untraveled.

An impactful return to the world of Eragon
Revisado: 12-10-23
Murtagh brings readers back to an all too familiar world. This tale is exactly how Paolini once described it. That is, a necessary tale to tell before moving forward in the plot. I can’t wait for what’s to come!

Historia
The Kingdom of Alanya is home to mystic warriors and mischievous djinns, vulgar poets and vain philosophers, soaring simurghs and scheming shahs. Little do the people know that a power struggle between an ancient sorceress and an upstart sultana threatens to bathe the sands in bile and bones. A bloody cauldron boils, and primeval gods laugh while they stir it. As warhorses charge, arrows shower, and cannon shots brighten the night, all must choose a side.

Another fantastic tale in the Gunmetal universe!
Revisado: 03-10-23
Mr. Akhtar has managed to refine an already incredible story. I really enjoy his ability to create characters who want something so badly they would do anything to get it. I find myself unsure of whether I agree or disagree with the choices characters make but it’s a rollercoaster the whole way. Can’t wait for the third installment in April 2023!

Historia
Fifty thousand gun-toting paladins march behind him, all baptized in angel blood, thirsty to burn unbelievers. Only the janissaries can stand against them. Their living legend, Kevah, once beheaded a magus amid a hail of ice daggers. But ever since his wife disappeared, he spends his days in a haze of hashish and poetry. To save the kingdom, Kevah must conquer his grief and become the legend he once was. But Micah writes his own legend in blood, and his righteous conquest will stop at nothing. When the gods choose sides, a legend will be etched upon the stars.

Took a few chapters, but then I was hooked!
Revisado: 02-02-23
I read a lot of the reviews and was hesitant to make the purchase. Everyone is a critic. Maybe I am easily entertained, but I found this story to be epic. It had appropriate ups and downs in pace and did a great job of building the world it is set in. My biggest complaint was that the narration for two major characters were very similar. But, at the start of each chapter you are told who is speaking and after awhile you’ll notice the difference between the voices anyways. Overall, a worthwhile purchase. I am excited to move on to book two!
