I loved this story. It made me want to buy a cherry orchard in Michigan. What some thought was boring, I thought was a detailed look into a life and the decisions we make. And of course Meryl Streep narration was superb

I absolutely loved this story. Each character was delightful to get to know. Wonderful writing and character development. I grew up on an island in the Puget Sound so the setting was very familiar to me. The narration was spot one and lovely to listen to.

Absolutely Beautiful

I almost skipped this book…..but it was actually the negative reviews that drew me in. I could tell from the, “I don’t want to read about politics” and the, “there’s enough politics in real life, I don’t want to read about it” that this book was likely extraordinary, and I was right. To those reviewers, racism and the brutality that people of color have faced in America through out our history and today is NOT politics. It is human tragedy. And it is the very discomfort you feel about it that is the most important. Your own white supremacy is alive and well and you cannot face it….just like the characters in this book. We are still facing the exact same bigotry in our society today. The writing was fantastic and the narrator completely on point. Well worth the credit.

Absolutely beautiful, stunning story. This book was some of the best writing I have encountered in a long time. Right away I was pulled into the story, the worlds…the beautiful imagery. Let yourself fall into the story. Wonderful narration, story line and plot. Left me wanting more.

I will admit it took me a little while to get into this book...but once I did I was so taken with it. The writing is like nothing I have heard before. The authors descriptions of every day moments left me mesmorized. So much of what is importnat in life is between the lines. This story is brutal at times...the pain of it hard to bear. But it's a beautiful portrait of authentic Amercian life that is rare. Some of the other reviews of it being "crude" clearly are not deep enough to take in such story.

I love me some KH....but holy moly is this book terrible. The writing is worse than a Hallmark movie. There's zero depth of character making it feel hollow and annoying. Don't waste your credit on this one. She has so many other amazing books to choose from.

This book was offered for free and so I really didn’t have any expectations. Loved the story line and the narrator. I was pulled into the story right away. I loved the imagery of the small village and the eccentric characters. It was all very easy to picture. I feel like I want to visit this part of the world now

I love most of Lisa Jewell’s book and this one didn’t disappoint. Uncomfortable and creepy and totally compelling. I only wished it were a bit longer. I hope for my audio books to be at least 10 hours long. The narration on the book was flawless. Love those British accents.

Despite the bad reviews I gave this a shot and I actually really liked it. It was predictable, but that really didn't take away from the story. It kept me up listening each nigh until I finished it. Not my favorite narrator, but decent enough.

It is very rare that I read a book where the author gets right the depth of what it is to be human. The dichotomy of what it is to carry our human story and still find it in us to love. What an amazing story. I just loved it. The narrator did a masterful job.
