Historia
It's been over a century since the humans lost the war for Earth. Cities have been reclaimed by nature, and the planet is quiet and empty by day. At night, feral vampires - more beast than man - roam the lands, hungry for blood. The few thousand surviving humans live on a massive airship that circles the Earth, moving with the rotation of the planet so it's always in sunlight.

Historia
Four decades of peace have done little to ease the mistrust between humans and dragons in the kingdom of Goredd. Folding themselves into human shape, dragons attend court as ambassadors, and lend their rational, mathematical minds to universities as scholars and teachers. As the treaty's anniversary draws near, however, tensions are high. Seraphina Dombegh has reason to fear both sides. An unusually gifted musician, she joins the court just as a member of the royal family is murdered.

Was good
Revisado: 04-28-23
The story was good, but by the last two books I was ready for it to be over. I liked the characters and storyline but there were times things seemed unnecessary. Final battles were anti climactic, fast and easy. Part of me doesn't mind that, as I liked following their day to day. But I'm glad it ends here, good stopping point. I wouldn't mind revisiting the characters.

I loved the story and the narrators brought this story to life. I didn't love the guy's female voice, but his voice is delightful enough otherwise that it's easy to overlook. story was great, I wanted it to keep going.

Okay
Revisado: 04-07-23
It was okay. The narrator wasn't bad. She was good at making annoying characters annoying. But the weird talk/chant thing with the lyrics made me cringe every time. I don't expect it to be sung but it was weird. I'm also not a fan of songs being quoted in books. As an editor, I know how much of a liability it is. As a reader, I saw moments where it worked, but mostly could have done without it. The story was okay, interesting, but also very confusing a lot of times. I shy away from books with religion and was disappointed when I realized it's religious. This is my own fault, I didn't take my time to research or really read the premise, but this is one reason I didn't love the book. Too much religious trauma, I guess. But not realizing it was a religious book is totally on me, and I'm not judging the book on that. Just my personal preference. I did find plenty of parts interesting, though.
All in all, okay. I'm glad I'm done with it. I didn't hate it. I didn't love it. I didn't connect with the characters or really like them. I didn't understand why the old ladies found lame unfunny stuff so hysterical. Maybe when I'm that age, I'll understand finding lame things funny?
And maybe I'll learn to pay more attention to the kind of book I'm buying so my religious trauma doesn’t strongly impact my enjoument of a book. Probably not.

Historia
Daisy is a girl coming of age in LA in the late '60s, sneaking into clubs on the Sunset Strip, sleeping with rock stars, and dreaming of singing at the Whisky a Go Go. The sex and drugs are thrilling, but it’s the rock and roll she loves most. By the time she’s 20, her voice is getting noticed, and she has the kind of heedless beauty that makes people do crazy things. Also getting noticed is The Six, a band led by the brooding Billy Dunne.

The format is pretty unique, and I enjoyed this way of telling the story. I love how they approached the audiobook. It brought the story to life. I read after watching the series, and I'm glad I did it in that order.

I'm experiencing all the feelings
Revisado: 08-23-22
I unfortunately read some comments with spoilers unintentionally and let that cloud my thoughts. But it didn't last. The ending was beautiful. The author does such a good job at pulling you (or me at least) into the characters emotions and it makes the whole thing an emotional ride. But seriously, beautiful ending.

Good
Revisado: 07-21-22
I can understand where some dislike things in the book, it can get pretty bleak and you can feel the emotion of separation. I like it for these reasons; it's powerful when an author can make you feel through their writing.
