Excellent story, very poor narration
Revisado: 05-02-24
I am fan of Sherwood Smith and I am fond of this particular book. Unfortunately, the narrator is a complete amateur. She often makes inappropriate pauses that make it sound as if she is unfamiliar with the text. The voices of the different characters are not very distinct, so it is sometimes hard to know who is speaking. I would not recommend this audiobook.

An outstanding performance of my favorite Jane Austin novel
Revisado: 12-25-23
Juliet Stevenson did a magnificent job of telling one of my favorite stories. Despite a variety of characters, both male and female, she did them all consistently and believably. She was careful about correct pronunciation of names and performed the dialogues of the book so that they sounded fresh and natural (no mean feat with dialogue that is 200 years old). I can recommend this audiobook unreservedly.

Wonderful narration of an excellent story

My daughter has listened to this story over and over again. The narrator did a terrific job with the voices. William Steig was an amazing storyteller.

Historia
In Phryne's third adventure, Phryne is off to Ballarat for a week of fabulousness, but the sedate journey by train turns out to be far from the restful trip she was planning. What was planned as a restful country sojourn turns into the stuff of nightmares: a young girl who can't remember anything, rumours of vile white slavery and the body of an old woman missing her emerald rings.

Excellent story, reader inconsistent
Revisado: 12-13-22
I thoroughly enjoyed the story. The villains were not stick figures, but believably bad. The reader did an excellent job with Phryne’s voice, but her portrayal of Chicago Pete and the voodoo priest were dreadful. I grew up in the southern US, and it amazes me how badly the accents are portrayed. Why can’t actors find a decent recording on the internet and imitate it?

Historia
These 12 lectures by Professors Cook and Herzman will give you a rounded, fully informed introduction to the luminous Francis of Assisi and will tell the intellectually and spiritually rewarding story of how his influence has glowed across the centuries.Just who was Assisi? Despite his continuing influence and the fairly ample writings about him that date from his own time, Francis remains somewhat elusive in history. Yet these lectures expertly unlock two sources that are the most revealing and plentiful-written narratives of Francis's life and the images created for Franciscan churches.

An insightful and eye-opening look at the life of St. Francis
Revisado: 09-06-22
This course is outstanding. The lecturers not only speak in-depth about Francis’ life and his spiritual journey, they also show his impact on Western culture. Francis’ message is just as relevant today as it was 800 years ago, and the lecturers do an excellent job of showing this.
