Narrator speaks slowww
Revisado: 09-17-18
I had to speed up the narration to listen without throwing this book away. Painfully too slow for me. Story is ok and entertaining enough. Plot driven while the character are stereotypical.

Historia
Sam Hill always saw the world through different eyes. Born with red pupils, he was called “Devil Boy” or Sam “Hell” by his classmates; “God’s will” is what his mother called his ocular albinism. Her words were of little comfort, but Sam persevered. Sam believed it was God who sent Ernie Cantwell, the only African American kid in his class, to be the friend he so desperately needed. And that it was God’s idea for Mickie Kennedy to storm into Our Lady of Mercy like a tornado, uprooting every rule Sam had been taught about boys and girls. Forty years later, Sam, a small-town eye doctor, is no longer certain anything was by design.

I’m in tears. I miss the characters
Revisado: 09-12-18
The story will result in tears. The likability of the parents and other characters sneak up on you and you’ll miss them when they’re gone.

Historia
A successful LA artist, Roman Velasco appears to have everything he could possibly want - money, women, fame. Only Grace Moore, his reluctant, newly hired personal assistant, knows how little he truly has. The demons of Roman's past seem to echo through the halls of his empty mansion and out across his breathtaking Topanga Canyon view. But Grace doesn't know how her boss secretly wrestles with those demons: by tagging buildings as the Bird, a notorious but unidentified graffiti artist - an alter ego that could destroy his career and land him in prison.

Why no warning about the Christian theme
Revisado: 08-24-18
If I knew the book was about being born again and fundamentalist Christianity I would not have bought it. It was a major theme throughout the book and was way over done. It was annoying and unnecessary. I found it annoying.

Historia
It's been over a decade since Nora left her hometown of Scupper Island, Maine, and very seldom looked back. She's carved out a successful life in Boston, where no one knows her as the awkward girl with the delinquent sister and the dad who left, but a not-as-dramatic-as-it-sounds brush with death has her taking stock of her life. Inspired to reconnect with her prickly mother and snarky teenage niece, Nora returns home for the summer, where she's forced to face the people she's spent the last ten years trying to avoid.

I liked it and finished it in two days of listening
Revisado: 06-18-18
I found myself finding tasks to do so I could keep listening without sitting still. I enjoyed the book and I did not think the “big bad event” ruined the book. I think it made it more believable and you could imagine Nora as a person you might meet someday who had lived through a bad event but survived and thrived. I liked the book and the narrator and I recommend this book.

Historia
Miracle Springs is a place of healing. Strangers flock there hoping that the natural hot springs, five-star cuisine, and renowned spa can cure their ills. And, if none of that works, they often find their way to Miracle Books, where, over a fresh-baked scone from the Gingerbread House bakery, they exchange their stories with owner Nora Pennington in return for a carefully chosen book. That's Nora's special talent: prescribing the perfect novel to ease a person's deepest pain and lighten their heaviest burden.

Truly Horrible Narration!
Revisado: 06-12-18
I believe this was a computer generated voice narration. It's horrible. I couldn't listen. It was so distracting that I gave up and got my money back. My advice is to skip this one.

Historia
People start dropping dead around Charlie, giant ravens perch on his building, and it seems that everywhere he goes, a dark presence whispers to him from under the streets. Strange names start appearing on his nightstand notepad, and before he knows it, those people end up dead, too. Yup, it seems that Charlie Asher has been recruited for a new job, an unpleasant but utterly necessary one: Death.

Increase the speed on the audible version
Revisado: 08-22-17
I increased the speed to 1.25 instead of the standard 1.0 and I was satisfied. The male narrator then was fine. It's an easy solution to the complaints about the narrator. Having a male voice wasn't so bad since there were many male characters (more than female) The story was adequate if a little predictable. A decent beach read.

I didn't think there could be a better WW2 book than "All the light we cannot see" but here it is!!! Someone has to make a mini-series of this book. A movie couldn't capture it all.

Historia
Kate Sedgwick's life has been anything but typical. She's endured hardship and tragedy, but throughout it all she remains happy and optimistic (there's a reason her best friend, Gus, calls her Bright Side). Kate is strong willed, funny, smart, and musically gifted. She's also never believed in love. So when Kate leaves San Diego to attend college in the small town of Grant, Minnesota, the last thing she expects is to fall in love with Keller Banks.

What's with all the deaths?
Revisado: 04-27-17
Wow the dead bodies were really piling up in this story! I think the author was trying to hard and counseling gave dialed back Kates history.
