This book is not for everyone, but I loved it. If you are a person that loves the story of The Little Match Girl- this is a wonderful updated version. Without spoilers, just know this is not a traditional happy Christmas story.

A wonderful rendition of a quietly terrifing tale

I have listened to this book every year for the past several years around Halloween- what a treat to find this new version this year. This tale is classically spooky. Since seeing it staged in London over 30 years ago, this story has stuck with me. Add a wonderful narrator, great music and sound effects- you have made my yearly tradition even better.

The perfect road trip treat!!!

I had listened to this and enjoyed it before, so I knew it was going to be good when I downloaded it again for a long road trip with my parents. At the end of this FANTASTIC performance, both my parents started applauding in the car! It was so much fun to allow Tim Curry’s performance just immerse you in the story that we know and love. Thank you for this fantastic recording that I will listen to every year!

An absolutely beautiful love story

I read the synopsis and it intrigued me. I wasn’t sure about the narrator when I found out she had the same last name, but I was completely wrong! The narrator was fantastic and I loved it when she sang some of the songs (I’m sorry Isabel. I should have known because my daughter is an Isabel as well)! This is one of the books that I think in enhanced by the narration, and that is not easy. Kudos to both mom and daughter!

Full disclosure- I wanted to listen to this because I am the authors niece! However, another family member and I chose to listen to it on a long road trip and really enjoyed ourselves. The book does make you think so you have to pay attention, but that didn’t bother us. The narration was excellent, I was really impressed and I am one who will pick out mistakes with my narrators. Have fun with this mind bender! You will be thinking about it for weeks after!
