If you like John Grisham, then you'll love the Lincoln Lawyer books. The characters are interesting and likable. It even brings in Detective Bosch, so it feels like a Michael Connelly universe.

Historia
Camille Grisham was once a decorated field agent with the FBI's Behavioral Analysis Unit. Her job was to solve the country's most complex and violent crimes, often with little more than a textbook profile of the perpetrator to go on. No one did it better. But after her partner's death at the hands of a sadistic mass murderer, she has become a broken shell of her former self.

Historia
Six days ago, astronaut Mark Watney became one of the first people to walk on Mars. Now, he's sure he'll be the first person to die there. After a dust storm nearly kills him and forces his crew to evacuate while thinking him dead, Mark finds himself stranded and completely alone with no way to even signal Earth that he's alive - and even if he could get word out, his supplies would be gone long before a rescue could arrive. Chances are, though, he won't have time to starve to death. The damaged machinery, unforgiving environment, or plainold "human error" are much more likely to kill him first.

If you work in it you know these people
Revisado: 09-16-16
See the movie first then listen to this book. The book is so much fun. The book presents so many technically capable people with so many personality quirks that you will have worked with the cast of characters and can relate to the frustration of the nasa managers.
Mark has such a great logical mind and great sense of humor. Your ego will wish you were just like him.

Coming of Age
Revisado: 02-03-16
The movies capture the book's plot lines, but they do not capture all of J.K Rowlings words. The movies left out too much of her humor. The Narrator is brilliant. It is genious how he brings the characters to life, and the music adds depth to the telling of the story that can't exist in reading the book to yourself.
If you are over 14 I recommend starting with this book. The first two Books are lovely, but they feel like they are written for younger people. Me and my wife are over 50 and both love these stories.

Tom Cruise is no Jack Reacher
Revisado: 04-01-15
What did you love best about Jack Reacher: One Shot?
Another really good Jack Reacher novel. There were the don't piss off Jack, the every woman loves a man with scars, the fooled me again, the shrelock holmesish dectective analysis, and the military moments, with only one (spoiler alert) "come on, that many Russians wouldn't stand out in middle america moment."
This is the book that the movie was based on. The movie introduced me to the Character, which got me to read books 1 - 8. I liked Tom Cruise as Jack Reacher, until I read books 1 - 8. After reading this book I watched the movie again and thought the book adaptation was great, the filming was great, but the casting director must have been smoking crack.

Revolutionary war English point of view
Revisado: 09-22-14
Would you listen to Sloop of War again? Why?
Spoiler alert, ... the Americans won the Revolutionary War. This book was written from the perspective of the losing side, but I did not realize how much of a Torre I was until I found myself rooting for the English Captain Bolothio.
What other book might you compare Sloop of War to and why?
Any of the Master's and Commander's books by O'Brien. It is the same amazing historical fiction settings with different personalities.

Revisado: 11-11-12
Would you listen to Ender's Shadow again? Why?
In the 1980's he invented political active user groups with locke and demonstenes. In the 1980's social media did not exist. There were old email news groups but they were in their infancy, something students did for fun. Orson used a potential future to make his own stories more real.
I ender's Shadow orson makes me believe I understand what it is like for a 6 year old orphan living alone on the streets. I do not know where he got his compasion and understanding to write from this perspective. I picked up the book to read about battle school but left needing to know more about relief agencies.
If you were to make a film of this book, what would be the tag line be?

Historia
As one of the great Native American warriors, Crazy Horse remains perhaps the most enigmatic. Scorned from childhood for his light-colored hair, he spurned the finery and honors characteristic to the Lakota Sioux warriors. Crazy Horse led his people to their greatest victory, at the Greasy Grass: the Battle of Little Big Horn, where Custer fell. Yet this was not his greatest personal victory. Instead, Crazy Horse's entire life was a triumph of the spirit.
