Historia
Early studies of the human brain used a simple method: Wait for misfortune to strike - strokes, seizures, infectious diseases, horrendous accidents - and see how victims coped. In many cases their survival was miraculous, if puzzling. Observers were amazed by the transformations that took place when different parts of the brain were destroyed, altering victims' personalities. With the lucid, masterful explanations and razor-sharp wit his fans have come to expect, Kean explores the brain's secret passageways.

A great listen!

Great collection of stories, pulled together in an easy to follow way! I like that the author tells not only of the great work some of these doctors have done but doesn't hide who they were as people, good or bordering on serial killer. I will seek out more from this author!

Historia
Levitt and co-author Stephen J. Dubner show that economics is, at root, the study of incentives: how people get what they want, or need, especially when other people want or need the same thing. In Freakonomics, they explore the hidden side of...well, everything. The inner working of a crack gang...the truth about real-estate agents...the secrets of the Klu Klux Klan. What unites all these stories is a belief that the modern world is even more intriguing than we think. All it takes is a new way of looking, and Freakonomics will redefine the way we view the modern world.

I was already a fan
Revisado: 10-26-16
I really enjoy freakonomics the podcast so this book just beefed up some of the stories I've already heard, and did cover some new parts I have not heard. Stephen Dubner did the voicing and did well but I do prefer the podcasts where his voice gets a little more excited and you get snips from Stephen Levitt. I will get the other books they put out!
