Historia
For almost a hundred years, Hadrian Marlowe has served the empire in its war against the Cielcin, a vicious alien race bent on humanity's destruction. Rumors of a new king among the Cielcin have reached the imperial throne. This one is not like the others. It does not raid borderworld territories, preferring precise, strategic attacks on the humans' empire.

can't get enough
Revisado: 02-20-24
Best epic series I've read since Stormlight and Assassin's Apprentice. Love the character development, fast pace, exciting action, thoughtful pauses. You can love Hadrian and also be irritated by his personality quirks, my favorite type of character. Each book in this series just gets better.
The narrator has solid voice distinction for main characters, and great cadence and emotion. However, I have started to laugh out loud at some of his pronunciation inconsistencies. Several times has pronounced character names different from one book to the next. Regularly mispronounces "tousled" "smote" and "quagmire". Like not even a british english vs american english difference, just straight up wrong. How did they not catch this in post😂? It's not often enough to irritate me, make me stop listening or take me out of the story, but often enough that I noticed and had the thought that the editors for the audio were sloppy in not correcting him.

Historia
When Chick Ferguson made plans to go to the Yukon, he wasn’t planning on taking his newlywed Mary. He definitely was not planning on spending much of the next 18 years in the wilderness. For he was just a photographer with a little studio in a little town in Montana. His business was failing and having heard of the riches of the fur trade he was hoping to spend a year or two trapping, making a stake and returning to his routine life. But he didn’t figure on love....

Awesome old story of a wilderness trap line.
Revisado: 10-06-21
I learned a great deal about what trapping was really like in the 1930's and 40's. Very interesting book! I was attached to the book from the very beginning and felt invested in the success of them as trappers!

Having grown disillusioned with the miserable existence that is expected of young college students, the newlyweds Bill and Ruth Albee dream of heading to Alaska, on foot, by way of a vast blank space on the map that is modern day Western British Columbia. Like most most dreams, it dug into their body, mind, and soul until nothing could satisfy it until they had given it a try. So, in 1930, they started off, ignoring all warnings and leaving from Vancouver on foot up through western B.C.
