Historia
In 1981, emboldened by Ronald Reagan’s election, a group of some 50 Republican operatives, evangelicals, oil barons and gun lobbyists met in a Washington suburb to coordinate their attack on civil liberties and the social safety net. These men and women called their coalition the Council for National Policy. Over four decades, this elite club has become a strategic nerve centre for channelling money and mobilising votes behind the scenes.

Nothing and nobody comes close to unmasking and presenting the otherwise invisible network of the CNP like Anne Nelson. Robert Mercer is never tied to the CNP in articles or news stories. In fact the CNP is almost never mentioned anywhere. With Trump having so many connections to both the CNP and the John Birch Society only the latter is ever mentioned, I assume for their seeming irrelevance. But the extremely relevant CNP lurks in the shadows. Thank you for shining a light on the shiny well packaged swamp taking over our federal and local governments.

The internet has transformed the ways we think and act, and by consequence, our politics. The most impactful recent political movements on the far left and right started with massive online collectives of teenagers. Strangely, both movements began on the same website: an anime imageboard called 4chan.org. It Came from Something Awful is the fascinating and bizarre story of 4chan and its profound effect on youth counterculture.

The last 20 years were strange. This helps make sense of one part. The rise of Trump was calculated. The seeds of right wing fascism have been planted by the likes of the White Citizens Council, the Council on National Policy, and the John Birch Society for decades. But the last 20 years Ron Paul, Alex Jones, Roger Stone, and Steve Bannon among others have introduced high tech fash to the world. This book nails it. From the mind set that these fascist prey on, to the fantasies they create.
In the end the new Trump right is just killing the old right, by the time covid19 is done with Florida it will be a blue state.
The Hippy anti-vaxxers are finally killing their parents. And MAGA is cheering it on, donating everything along the way.

Historia
In The World of the John Birch Society, author D. J. Mulloy reveals the tactics of the society in a way they've never been understood before, allowing the listener to make the connections to contemporary American politics, up to and including the Tea Party. These tactics included organized dissemination of broad-based accusations and innuendo, political brinksmanship within the Republican Party, and frequent doomsday predictions regarding world events.

Alex Jones, Ron Paul, Donald Trump all stand on the shoulders of Robert Welch Jr. and the John Birch Society.
Welch like some type of racist Willy Wonka planted the seeds for the Tea Party which the Koch bros helped harvest. Ultimately with the help of Roger Stone, a frequent JBS guest, America was given its full Blown Bircher president: Donald Trump, the birther himself.
This book really filled in the gaps and gave countless insights into this world of good vs. evil, which is echoing loudly today through the Qanon movement.
The MLM style of recruiting and networking is also seen today in the recruiting efforts of white nationalist and Qanon as they dig through facebook groups looking for prey.
