Historia
There are few love stories in the holy books. Love is what ruins. Love is what costs. Love is a flaming sword at our backs, a garden left to ruin and to wild. In Dayspring, Anthony Oliveira brings to vibrant, glorious life the gospel according to the disciple Christ loved—his companion in the days before the crucifixion, the only instrument that remembers with fidelity his sound.

In love with gay Jesus
Revisado: 08-28-24
I’m a 40 year old ex-vangelical gay-thiest.
Which is to say I grew up loving Jesus but had it beat out of me after coming out of the closet.
That said, gosh this book was beautiful!
It’s not that it’s just a partial view of the gospels written with two men in love. The face that it’s finally told, erotically, truthfully, and completely is what means so much.
Maybe this won’t be a hit with everyone. But I highly reccomend the audio version of this tale.
Thanks for sharing it Anthony!

Historia
The first-ever social and scientific history of masturbation, which unapologetically critiques a system that has sought to control the very human desire for self-pleasure. Part sex-positive expose, part fascinating science, DIY spotlights generations of sex education countering anti-masturbation pseudoscience with empowering truths about pleasure. This sex book is perfect for fans of Mary Roach books like Bonk or anyone curious about the history of sex and masturbation.

Dr Sprankle does and excellent job of providing historically and medical insight to masturbation as many know it.
It’s insightful, humorous, and thought provoking.

Historia
As a millworkers’ strike in the northern lumber town of Roberval drags on, tensions start to escalate between the workers—but when a lockout renews their solidarity, they rally around the mysterious and magnetic influence of Querelle, a dashing newcomer from Montreal. Strapping and unabashed, likeable but callow, by day he walks the picket lines and at night moves like a mythic Adonis through the ranks of young men who flock to his apartment for sex.

Hold onto your butts!
Revisado: 03-26-24
I was first made aware of Querelle the movie based on the book by Genet.
So it’s safe to say this tale isn’t out to set up a happy fairytale ending.
It was operatic though, fantastical and erotic and painful.
There’s clearly some historical precedents shared along the way, the story mostly feels true to life. And while it’s not an outright edification of the LGBTQ community, it does speak of the wonder and loss our family has lived through.
This was wild!

Historia
Benson and Mike are two young guys who live together in Houston. Mike is a Japanese-American chef at a Mexican restaurant and Benson's a Black day-care teacher, and they've been together for a few years - good years - but now they're not sure why they're still a couple. There's the sex, sure, and the meals Mike cooks for Benson, and, well, they love each other. But when Mike finds out his estranged father is dying in Osaka just as his acerbic Japanese mother, Mitsuko, arrives in Texas for a visit, Mike picks up and flies across the world to say good-bye.

Lots of love grounded in reality
Revisado: 12-18-20
It’s nice to hear a story about people who’s lives, love, and relationship aren’t the “norm”.
Immigration, love, privilege, sex, HIV status, monogamy, and food speak more about culture than many see on the daily.

Lyz understands God Land.
Revisado: 10-07-20
As Lyz mentions in the book, many denizens of Middle America claim that outsiders don’t really know them.
Lyz puts in the work and provides the life experience to speak as and about being a citizen of “God Land”.
Whiteness, evangelical Chrsitianity, Midwestern identity, and the values entailed are explored in Lyz’s journalistic work.
As an atheist I wonder just how much humans have to experience before they leave the church.
But I imagine Lyz’s very real story and history will resonate with many seeking to find a place in modern Christianity.

Erin Gibson has a singular goal - to create a utopian future where women are recognized as humans. In Feminasty - titled after her nickname on the hit podcast Throwing Shade - she has written a collection of make-you-laugh-until-you-cry essays that expose the hidden rules that make life as a woman unnecessarily hard and deconstructs them in a way that's bold, provocative, and hilarious.

Revisado: 05-31-19
As soon as Erin mentioned angry women with Juno.com emails I knew I found a kindred spirit!!
Feminasty is a book read by a woman putting 200% of her heart into shining a much needed spotlight on WOMEN! And for that I applaud it.
Smart, self aware, humble and powerful.
Thank you for using your hilarious voice and talents to point out injustice misogyny and glass ceilings women face on the daily.
I hope you get to continue fighting for women in written and audible forms!

Historia
This is the way the world ends: with a nanosecond of computer error in a Defense Department laboratory and a million casual contacts that form the links in a chain letter of death. And here is the bleak new world of the day after: a world stripped of its institutions and emptied of 99 percent of its people. A world in which a handful of panicky survivors choose sides - or are chosen.

Historia
Daniel Mulligan is tough, snarky, and tattooed, hiding his self-consciousness behind sarcasm. Daniel has never fit in - not at home in Philadelphia with his auto mechanic father and brothers, and not at school where his Ivy League classmates looked down on him. Now, Daniel's relieved to have a job at a small college in Holiday, Northern Michigan, but he's a city boy through and through, and it's clear that this small town is one more place he won't fit in.

Oh man, great romance novel.
As a gay dude that hasn’t cracked too many queer romance novels this was a nice first step.
A lil smutty, a little predictable. But really sweet.
