Historia
In this revolutionary book, renowned physician Gabor Maté eloquently dissects how in Western countries that pride themselves on their healthcare systems, chronic illness and general ill health are on the rise. Nearly 70 percent of Americans are on at least one prescription drug; more than half take two. In Canada, every fifth person has high blood pressure. In Europe, hypertension is diagnosed in more than 30 percent of the population. And everywhere, adolescent mental illness is on the rise. So what is really “normal” when it comes to health?

Preachy
Revisado: 01-04-23
I thoroughly enjoyed chapters 1 through 20. After that, it became a platform for Gabor Mates political and social justice opinions, rather than a book dedicated to his core competency on trauma and stress and it’s connection to
Disease and addiction. I’m not interested in his political views, not who he thinks is good or bad or worthy / unworthy of respect. He preaches a lot about being just, and yet his judgement on countries, politics, history, and other humans is peppered all throughout the second half of the book. The first half is genius. Skip his personal views of the world unless you believe in worshipping any one humans ideals.

I know it’s an important book but....
Revisado: 11-22-18
This book gave some great case studies but no direction or advice on how to manage - no tools. Also I have to say the narrator was the worst I’ve ever heard - she sounded like her lips were trembling the entire time. Poor affect and not genuine as it continued throughout the entire book. A stronger voice would have been more appropriate for people looking for strength.

Historia
For decades we've been told that positive thinking is the key to a happy, rich life. "F*ck positivity," Mark Manson says. "Let's be honest, shit is f*cked, and we have to live with it." In his wildly popular Internet blog, Manson doesn't sugarcoat or equivocate. He tells it like it is - a dose of raw, refreshing, honest truth that is sorely lacking today. The Subtle Art of Not Giving a F*ck is his antidote to the coddling, let's-all-feel-good mind-set that has infected modern society and spoiled a generation, rewarding them with gold medals just for showing up.

Boring
Revisado: 11-15-18
This book was hard to digest - the reader had an air of ambivalence and never changed that tone throughout. No real direction here just a bunch of superficial thoughts.
