Every relationship leaves something behind. Dumped by his sugar daddy, part-time model Scott Mackenzie somehow ends up owning an abandoned church in rural Ontario. He dreams of using it for gay weddings, even if he'll never have one of his own. Joe Sutton is trying to keep his family together after his parents' deaths. Kind of Funny story that transports you!
Revisado: 04-09-14
Where does The Isle Of... Where? rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?
I have listened to better, I have listened to worse. I would listen again though!
What was one of the most memorable moments of The Isle Of... Where??
I like the 'englishness' of the characters and how this and they transport you out of the norm.
What about Max Lehnen’s performance did you like?
Fantastic job. Really engaging and his voice does not get in the way of the story. This is VERY important for me. I don't like overly dramtic, actorly reads and this one hits the mark.
If you could take any character from The Isle Of... Where? out to dinner, who would it be and why?
Liam. I like his sensitivity.

Historia
The people who orbit around Renn Ivins, an actor of Harrison Ford-like stature - his girlfriends, his children, his ex-wives, those on the periphery - long to experience the glow of his fame. Anna and Will are Renn's grown children, struggling to be authentic versions of themselves in a world where they are seen as less important extensions of their father. They are both drawn to and repelled by the man who overshadows every part of them.

Pathetic lifes in a sad sad world
Revisado: 01-09-14
Would you listen to Little Known Facts again? Why?
Maybe... the story is a bit out of my interest but some of the development of said characters I did find interesting
If you’ve listened to books by Christine Sneed before, how does this one compare?
I haven't
What does Steven Menasche bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
Really, really nice voice that makes listening to such a tale bearable. I would listen to more of his work.
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
Not really.
Any additional comments?
Spoiler alter:
The relationship between the son and daughter (and their shared love) was upsetting.

Very Touching and a bit of a thriller
Revisado: 12-29-13
If you could sum up Designs of Desire in three words, what would they be?
Sexy, thriller, touching
Who was your favorite character and why?
I like Seth as he was a 'take charge' kind of guy. I thought James whined a bit too much.
What about Max Lehnen’s performance did you like?
VERY sexy, engaging voice... What I like about listening to books, is that I get to imagine what the narrator looks like ;)
I see someone gave him 1 start here, but I don't get that at all. I would definitely listen to another book by him
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
Seth helping James through his panic attacks (I can relate).
Any additional comments?
I wish there was more sex in the book... or I should say, less sex that is soft and sensitive and more sex with abandon!

Historia
A woman rejects her husband's heart - and gives it back to him, still beating, in a plastic box. A little boy betrays his father to the harsh mercies of Santa Claus. A widower suspects his dead wife's face is growing over his own. A man goes to Hell, and finds he's roommate to the ghost of Hitler's pet dog. Giant spiders, killer angels, ghost cat photography, and the haunted house right at the center of the Garden of Eden. Deliciously frightening, darkly satirical, and always unexpected, Robert Shearman has won the World Fantasy Award, the British Fantasy Award, the Shirley Jackson Award, and the Edge Hill Reader's Prize.

Very, very touching material
Revisado: 06-12-13
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
It is more a book about life rather then sci-fi. Kind of a sci-fi book for those that *think* they don't like sci-fi.
Who was your favorite character and why?
All, but the husband and wife stories were extra touching.
Have you listened to any of Steven Menasche’s other performances before? How does this one compare?
Yes, I was led to this book based on his work.
Who was the most memorable character of Remember Why You Fear Me and why?
All
Any additional comments?
I don't think they should have used an American to narrate. At times the narrator is using british-isms and they seem strange coming from an american (mum, etc.). That said, if you can let that go, you won't be sorry to listen to this somewhat long book. His tone is quite empathetic and thoughtful--I like this style of narration rather then the super theatrical reads I get from the library.

Historia
Why is belief so hard to shake? Despite our best attempts to embrace rational thought and reject superstition, we often find ourselves appealing to unseen forces that guide our destiny, wondering who might be watching us as we go about our lives, and imagining what might come after death. In this lively and masterfully argued new book, Jesse Bering unveils the psychological underpinnings of why we believe.

Oy... I can't take this voice for more then 5 mins
Revisado: 06-11-13
What would have made The Belief Instinct better?
A better narrator.
Were the concepts of this book easy to follow, or were they too technical?
Very easy as they were rehashing of others ideas.
Would you be willing to try another one of Jesse Bering’s performances?
NO.
If you could play editor, what scene or scenes would you have cut from The Belief Instinct?
The last couple of chapters about the mom and his dealing with her dying. Though touching, out of place.
Any additional comments?
Seems unless they have a super interesting voice, authors should not narrate their own material.
