Historia
Spencer Quinn’s first original audio short story reveals how everyone’s favorite detective duo - Chet the Dog and P.I. Bernie Little - came to meet before their first big case in Dog On It. As fans know, Chet first met Bernie on that fateful day when he flunked out of K-9 police school. The details of that day, though, have always remained a little vague (like so much in Chet’s doggy brain). All we know is that Chet had been the best leaper in his K-9 class, but for some reason he failed his final leaping test...and that a cat was involved...and that there was some blood. But whose?

Delish! Case closed! I’m Chet — plain and simple…
Revisado: 04-20-25
I’m binging this series since discovering it a couple of days ago! On Book 6 as I write this.
A private eye series from a dog’s perspective…I am hooked! I hope this author continues this series and the same narrator continues to bring the stories to life. Well written, entertaining, clever… and well narrated.
As a lifetime dog lover who has lived with many dogs, I have no trouble believing Chet’s inner monologue.

Dog people must read!
Revisado: 10-26-24
Fantastic story with great characters and storyline AND an amazing narration that brings those characters to life. Love the humor and wit, mixed with serious situations. (Reminds me of Stargate SG-1 and Atlantis but with dogs — perfect!)
I can visualize the characters and the action — and I can picture my many dogs as part of this adventure.
Moving on to Book 2 and watching for Book 3’s audio release in January.
I enjoy Robinson’s books, but this is my first exposure to Tom Taylorson; I have about 10 favorite narrators who I seek out on Audible and Tom is now on that list. The narration is huge for me as I am vision-impaired and rely on the performances.
In the past, when my vision was good, I preferred reading so my imagination was engaged. Now, I find that a poor performance or a less talented narrator can destroy my interest in a book. And that’s sad. I resort to the Kindle reader AI for those. I am so thankful for talented performers like Tom!!

Love this series! Listen to all in order.
Revisado: 08-02-24
Great characters, story and performance. Berman brings this series to life. One of the best performers ever! And Buroker is one of my favorite authors.
Intelligent writing that is impressively performed. With humor, some sadness, nuttiness, irony, challenges, awareness of right and wrong, AI and robots! Excellent!
Wish there were more in this series or more books after the Asylum spinoff with Berman performing.

Historia
She's used to temper tantrums, swearing, and threats, but finding a dead body is an entirely new low. She isn't interested in getting more involved than she already is in the investigation into the man she found's death. But when a few days later, she stumbles over a second body lying feet away from where she found the first, she can't avoid it. She knows the streets of her route and the people on them, but she is absolutely astonished when New Scotland Yard discovers the art gallery near where she found the bodies is a front for mixing up a new psychedelic drug.

Excellent story and performance! Where’s Book 2?
Revisado: 08-02-24
Interesting story with a mix of cultures, accents, intrigue, bad guys and good guys. set in 1960s London. The traffic warden aspect was a unique insight. I’ve seen them depicted in movies and tv shows but only as a backdrop. Interesting. Eager for Book 2.

Bizarre title that the story explains well
Revisado: 07-19-24
Like: Interesting and unusual storyline. A bit quirky. Humorous in many places. Even the bad guys had funny or ironic or witty lines while being bad. Wil Wheaton gives a fine performance. Female voices are not as identifiable, though.
Dislike: Got a bit lost with the Needo (sp?) clan lineage and names (most likely due to listening rather than reading).
Overall, an enjoyable story and performance. Scalzi is a quirky writer with unusual topics and plot twists — and book titles. I have enjoyed discovering his talent.

Historia
Pru Parke has her dream job: head gardener at an 18th-century manor house in Sussex. The landscape for Primrose House was laid out in 1806 by renowned designer Humphry Repton in one of his meticulously illustrated Red Books, and the new owners want Pru to restore the estate to its former glory - quickly, as they're planning to showcase it in less than a year at a summer party.

Cozy mystery with a bit of romance and gardening
Revisado: 07-19-24
Like: Clean romance that is not embarrassing to listen to with audio speaker on. Lots of characters to discover.
Dislike: A bit plodding. Main character delays alerting police and others about important details, such as her suspicions and attempts on her life. Ignores basic personal safety by not paying attention to her surroundings, not having her cellphone, etc. when she knows there is a murderer among her acquaintances. Wow! This character should NOT be written as that stupid or distracted or ditzy. Not when she is — supposedly— an organized and detail-oriented person (who works on major landscaping projects that require such skills). There needs to be a better reason that places her in those situations.
Overall, a good listen.

Long before Casmir Dabrowski and Kim Sato leave their world for the epic adventures of the Star Kingdom series, long before they outwit terrorists and mercenaries and do battle on a galactic scale, long before they become best friends and roommates...they have to meet for the first time. This is that story.

Cute and interesting
Revisado: 03-01-21
A cute and interesting look into the beginning of the friendship between Casmir and Kim. Ties in nicely to references in the main series. And demonstrates Casmir’s creative and resourceful workarounds to solving problems and Kim’s aversion to touching and propensity for achievement. Fun listen.

Excellent book and series — not just for kids!
Revisado: 12-02-20
The storyline and characters come alive with the performance of Fred Berman — what a great voice actor!
For me, the storyline seems a little older than the 13-ish main characters. They are often treated brutally and roam the islands and seas without much positive adult intervention — so it is not a lighthearted frolicking and fun-filled adventure story. I suppose the storyline is in keeping with classics like Treasure Island and Tom Sawyer.
The author does a good job explaining when the young characters cannot understand the circumstances or repercussions because of their youth, lack of life experience and lack of education. This would be a good series to share between parents and kids — read together. Or, better yet, listened to, since the characters’ voices are so entertaining.
Additionally, the storyline has good moral lessons. And the plights of these teens may be relatable to young readers who experience similar issues or injustices.
I found this book series because I was searching for more Fred Berman performances after being hooked by his narration of Lindsay Buroker’s Star Kingdom space opera series. Berman’s voice characterizations are distinct and easy to follow.
