I can't remember when I've enjoyed a series this much! I loved the first book, the second book - even the seventeenth book! I loved how the character grows through the series. I loved his goofy police dog ghost partner, too. At first I couldn't understand why he didn't go after the first girl he had feelings for, but then when he meets up with Maxine's mom, I understood. It was tricky how the author kept us wondering about who he was going to fall in love with! This book was absolutely NOT predictable! I love the ghosts, the relationships, and the respect the characters had for one another. I loved this series so much, now I'm going to have to listen to them all again, since I'll have to wait for the next book in the series. I hope the author has a lot of plans for future stories! If I had a complaint, it would be that some of the books aren't long enough! I want more!

I enjoyed the two stories, but I was slightly disappointed that the heroine in the first book never ran a race. I was so excited to find a story about a fellow musher - and she never mushes in the whole story! She trains her dogs, but that's about it. In fact, the dogs seemed like an extra to the story and not important to it at all. If she were really going to run in that race, she should have been training them for weeks before hand. Throwing a ball to play catch doesn't count.

Other than the lack of knowledge about mushers, the story was great. I've never been to Alaska. I mush in Northern Wisconsin. But it was fun to read about Alaska. I think I liked the second story best. About the young sweethearts who didn't get married then, but meet up again later when they are both older and wiser. I really enjoyed this author, and I'll look for more by her.

This was a cute story. The characters were interesting, the flight was a little twisted at times, and I’m really looking forward to the sequel.

If you like Amish stories, you might love this. It isn’t really a romance. It isn’t really a novel, either. All the plot twists are in the first part of the book. The middle and end is just about the characters and what they do, but without much tension or climax. Just a sweet story.

The narrator was kind of annoying. She read too slowly I set the speed up. And she sounded like she was reading a science text to kindergartners. It wasn’t very interesting.

I really enjoyed this story by Beverly Lewis! It took me a while to get into it, and I realized then that it was the reader. She read too slow for my taste, almost like she was reading to a group of kindergartners. I set the reading speed, a little faster and I was able to finish the story. This was acomplicated plot, with characters dealing with deep grief or struggling with it because they weren’t dealing with it. The character growth was fantastic. And the ending was perfect.

Are used to live in North Carolina. I am a woman of some years, and, although I still have my darling husband with me, I could identify with Miss Julia! Are used to live in a small town somewhat like Abbotsville. I found the entire story, charming, and I’m so excited that there are so many more books to listen to! I’ve listen to them all once through already! I am enjoying them even more the second time! I only regret that there are only 23 volumes!

This reads like a young author on her first or second book. If this is true, then it’s a really good start. I hope, that, like the twilight series, the author grows as she continues in in the books. I like the heroine, I like the alpha, and some of the side characters were wonderful. The werewolf world was original. The fight between good and evil was fine. Some of the problems are I don’t think the author has ever had a child, or talk to anyone who dead. The entire birth scene was just wrong. She had the mother, screaming and screaming, and the nurse telling her to go ahead and scream. In real life, humans are not told to fight the pain, but to work with it. In werewolf fantasies the author is free to make the birth any way she wants, but Wolves don’t usually struggle so hard with their pups, and it is unlikely that a nurse would be so in capable. My second issue is with the tense. I absolutely hate writing in present tense. It is so awkward and limiting, and forces the author to break a lot of grammatical rules. If you write in present tense all of the time the story feels very stilted. There are times when you may have to switch to something that happened before the time they’re talking about, but do you switch to past perfect, or or mentioned three days ago or three years ago, and continue with present tense? Writing in present tense creates so much confusion in the story, they can rip the reader out of the experience. The purpose of writing a story is to escape. The reader does not want to struggle to figure out what the author may have meant by whatever tense she did, or did not use correctly or incorrectly.
I sincerely hope that the author will write the other books in the series in the traditional third person past tense. And then maybe come back and rewrite the first book in past tense as well. I think she has something really good started here, but it just misses being great.

The narrator did a fine job. I could always tell who was talking by the various different voices the narrator was able to produce.

He is definitely not an alpha male. I never would’ve thought you could make a romantic hero out of a mama’s boy! The characters were adorable, the long complicated trip made for a cute meet. I’m familiar with some of the readers from other stories, I will be sure to look for more books by this author.

I like the heroine. Sometimes it’s hard to to write in the first person without making the protagonist sound arrogant. But this author has done a fine job. The heroine is sweet, modest humble, without being self-aggrandizing. I love the hero too. I wish there was more of him in the story, he’s pretty much just her back up man as she solves all of her problems on her own.
I like the reader to, but she reads a little fast. I set the story to times .9 and enjoy it that way.
