Loved the 1980’s movie as a kid, loved the book more

I absolutely loved the 1980’s movie as a kid. My dad and I would watch it on the weekends very frequently. Once I learned it was a book, I put it on during long drives. loved the book even more.

I lived the steps

I lived the steps and followed the advice to get me out of bad debt. My understanding of debt and my relationship with money has changed in the decade since I read this book. I now use it as a tool and don’t live in debt. That is harder than living debt free for me. Though I have some low-level financial education, it still takes careful attention to detail. I wouldn’t be where I am without this book though.

Fantastical success recipe read with mid-century flair!

This book has some outdated themes done with all the vigor of a 1930’s radio ad. It has every supernatural approach the author could stir in spanning from mental vibrations, prayer. . . It didn’t outright say magic, but it’s in there if you look hard enough. There are much better books that give more updated versions of these concepts; Grant Cardone’s “10x Rule,” Malcolm Gladwell’s “Blink,” and Robert Kiyosaki’s “rich dad, poor dad.” There are some good nuggets of information and mental approaches that have been touted in other books. However, the whole of the book is summed up by the title, which is interchangeable with the main idea from the story, “the little engine that could.”
