Daddy/ Little Girl storyline not for me.

Firstly this was given to me by the author in return for an honest review.

I love good erotica in all its varieties, and since I had never read (listened) to a Daddy story, I was keen to give this a go. I have to say I got annoyed with how she called him Daddy, so I guess this sort of story is not for me.

The story starts off promisingly but soon started to "irk" me. Having said that the writing is good and the story arc works well, it's just the content of the Daddy/Little girl scenario is not what I am looking for in an erotic book. The actual sex scenes in the most part WERE sexy until they converse and she calls him Daddy.

The narrator voiced the "girls" voice well but I was not won over by her male interpretation. I feel it may have worked better with a male and Female narrator.

Perhaps it was a tad naive of me about what I should be expecting from this type of erotic book as I did sort of know what it was about but actually hearing the words uttered is what turned me off. I am sure people who like this sort of story will find this a very interesting listen.

Best Book I have listened to in ages

I saw Hannah Kent interviewed on Australian TV where she talked about her experiences in researching this story.

I was fascinated from the start and the book did not disappoint. I work in a book shop and recommend this book to anyone who will listen to me. It is so engrossing you are inside the characters as they speak. You can almost smell the living conditions, and feel her heartache.

This is my first book by Libby Fischer Hellman... I know nothing of her Georgia Davis character and was surprised to see how little she appears in this book when it is plugged as a prequel to the series. Having said that she, Georgia, is the street cop "detective" that actually works it out what toxin is being used before the professionals figure it out..

What starts off to be a routine murder mystery suddenly twists and turns to be something so much more complex in its issues.

We also delve into the personal lives of the cops and the struggles they go through not only in their professional but also personal lives. Got to say Georgia's boyfriend left me wanting to smack him several times.

A rash of rather gruesome dead bodies have been turning up dumped in various places(obviously not where they had been killed). They appear to have no connection with each other..

As stated, at the beginning, this book was set before more advanced police toxicity procedures had been established and these poor detectives are at a loss as to what is happening here. I actually enjoyed the 'leg-work' involved in trying to solve these mysteries, not just a CSI easy fix.

There is a secondary story running through the background (at first) about a new housing estate being built on what could be toxic land and the heartbreaking story of sick children.

I must admit I did not see the ending or the bad-guy coming which in itself is a great achievement with a crime novel.

Going by this book I will be reading more from this author about her heroine Georgia

Ghost story for Grown-ups

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Yes, I thought initially this would be a Young Adult story,(Not that thereshould really be a distinction when a story is this good) it is however, a fabulous ghost story for grown ups. It deals with unfinished business, a life (or lives) in limbo and an evil witch, but somehow it all is very believable, not fanciful.

What was one of the most memorable moments of The Mystery of Grace?

Two moments, The first being when Grace re-enters the real world for the second time and meets up with her lover. The other is the very last words

Which scene was your favorite?

There are lots, the very first scene when Grace and John are in the bedroom, Grace going back to her workplace and meeting up with the native American, and the last few seconds.

Any additional comments?

I had never read any of Charles de Lint's work before and have now visited his website several times. I will be reading (listening) to more of his work.

Unexpected naughty little story

Where does Plunder rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

It is right up there with most other erotica I have listened to, though to call it erotica is not quite correct.It is very forth-right in its execution and does not use euphamisms when discussing the sexual act and body parts

What was one of the most memorable moments of Plunder?

I like most of the interaction between Eva and Elliot, it sounded like real conversations, not forced, flowed naturally. I quite the sceen involving blindfolds.

What does Mira Noire and Peter Rawn Klein bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

I was quite shocked initially by his voice as it is gruff and mature, but very appealing. Mira's voice is young and sexy. She especially was able to bring the written word alive.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

I tried to listen in one go, but I took it to bed with me and fell asleep, but it was thefirst thing I did the next moring (ie complete the book).

Any additional comments?

I have never heard these narrators before and will seek out other books read by either of them. Also I see Mr Klein has writen and narrated other books here on Audile.

One point in the plot confused me, which is the way Eva's boyfriend reacted to the whole situation- so complient.

Yes, absolutely .Love Michael Kramer's performance. He even does the women's voices well

What other book might you compare The Informant to and why?

Thrillers are not my normal go-to reads, but I listened to Fidelity first and that got me interested in both Thomas Perry's work and Michael Kramer's narration

Have only heard him reading Thomas Perry novels. This compares equally well as the rest

no- 2 sittings but very late at night

I am so pleased to have found a "new" author (for me) and have been recommending him to everyone I know that is interested in a well rounded book. The Butcher's Boy is The Perfect Novel

wonderful sexy story

The narrator is just right for this story she brings a sense of naivety and experience to the listener. She jumps from one lover to the next with relative ease and hardly any stress and is always learning.
I truly enjoyed this and have already listened to it twice.(in case I missed something)
