Historia
Reese almost had it all: a loving relationship with Amy, an apartment in New York City, a job she didn't hate. She had scraped together what previous generations of trans women could only dream of: a life of mundane, bourgeois comforts. The only thing missing was a child. But then her girlfriend, Amy, detransitioned and became Ames, and everything fell apart. Now Reese is caught in a self-destructive pattern: avoiding her loneliness by sleeping with married men.

Excellent and complex characters
Revisado: 08-16-24
I really liked the character building and captivating story about the numerous issues gender divercity brings with it. As a part of minority my self the minority stress was very tangible on several occasions as were the life changing choises the characters had to make to be them selves.

Good but not nearly as queer or funny than the first one. Good character development though. Even with such a large cast.

Historia
Sleep is one of the most important but least understood aspects of our life, wellness, and longevity. Until very recently, science had no answer to the question of why we sleep, or what good it served, or why we suffer such devastating health consequences when we don't sleep. Compared to the other basic drives in life - eating, drinking, and reproducing - the purpose of sleep remained elusive.

Absolutely critical to know but in a hard package
Revisado: 03-28-24
This is a must listen but not a light one. Realizing in just how bad a situation we collectively are and you personally might be in is hard. Would still recommend for everyone who wants to succeed or is a parent.

In the absolutely packed Act II, the dark fantasy resumes and the Sandman expands into the French Revolution, ancient Rome, 19th-century San Francisco, eighth-century Baghdad, and beyond. New and familiar characters abound, voiced by a bright mix of performers, including Kat Dennings, Regé-Jean Page, Emma Corrin, Michael Sheen, Kristen Schaal, Brian Cox, John Lithgow, Jeffrey Wright, and so many more, including fan-favorite narrators Simon Vance and Ray Porter.

A true masterpiece
Revisado: 11-05-21
Narration, sound design and effects, creation of feeling are all extremely well done. Story is fantastic. If you have read the comics you get extra vibes when you meet the familiar scenes. If you have not this is an awesome way to familiarize your self with the endless and their distant and very human view of our reality. There's a lot to listen and to like. Most memorable to me was Orpheus's song.

Essential but hard to follow
Revisado: 07-31-21
Fern makes a great journey and provides useful tools. Following is however almost impossible without printed handouts. Especially in the beginning with all the theory terms and in the end with all the "this" references. I ended up buing the physical copy of this book for the second read through.

Historia
In Search Of Black History with Bonnie Greer brings you face-to-face with the people you never knew existed. People whose stories tell us a different tale about who we all are. From the earliest glimmerings of modern humanity, up to the present day, Bonnie Greer uncovers the lives of people of African descent that don’t fit with the accepted history of Western Civilisation we’ve traditionally been taught. From saints, to philosophers, to warrior women and king’s heralds - these people’s lives have been lost, hidden and distorted down the centuries.

Eyes opening tale of what we're missing in history
Revisado: 09-02-20
Western history is blind and some times intentionally so to the history of the cultures of our oppression. Justification for our actions has erased their voices. Greer brings out the tip of the iceberg that everyone should crash on to understand how much we've lost by keeping the telling of history to our selves.

Truly an emotional production
Revisado: 08-04-20
It shows that Gaiman is part of the production. This audio brings the characters of Sandman to life as never before and as faihtful as in the comics. All the characters are easily distinquishable and full. The storytelling, music and acting are top noch so that I truly felt their troubles and joy. Definitely something to come back to again and again.

There’s more to the swamplands than meets the teeth. In this supernatural tale of magic and mysticism, Henry Lemarchand grew up in Philadelphia knowing very little of his family—his father disappeared when he was young, leaving behind only a strange pouch of animal teeth. When he is sent to the Louisiana bayou to spend the summer with his eccentric uncle and cousin in their decaying ancestral mansion, Henry learns about his family’s supernatural legacy.

Nice story with superpowers, mysteries and low intensity storytelling. Violence and descriptions of danger are totally child friendly. Performance is the thing that makes this a great listen for adults also.

This really gives a wide angle on the iceberg under the peak of stolen nuts. Different perspectives are presented and effects brought forth. This is an example of the problems whose effect we are reaping and our children will reap after us.
