What made the experience of listening to Storm Front the most enjoyable?

The book is written (performed) as a standard 'detective novel' -- in the first person, think "Mikey Spillane".

Any additional comments?

I normally spend my Audible credits on substantial works --- 20+ hours, as I listen every other weekend while doing a 400 mile round-trip drive. It generally takes me two to three month to get through a book. I took a chance on this because I wanted something different and because I enjoyed the short lived TV series. I couldn't have made a better choice.

After listening for 4 hours Sunday, I found myself listening on my short 30 minute commute today (Monday). Now, I'm sitting here, wondering if my GF would terribly mind if I wear earphones to bed.

The performer has a soft affable voice, that seems to do Dresden justice. The story itself is tasteful in the various adult parts, and I would not be embarrassed listening to it with family and children. Luckily, it appears that there are 15 books on Audible, all performed by the same artist. Well, there goes my yearly allowance of credits.

What made the experience of listening to Revelation Space the most enjoyable?

What makes audible books different (at least the way I listen), is you have no idea how much of the story is left. With paperback, you can visually see the amount, with a movie, you know when it's over and the story is going to HAVE to wrap up. This particular book just has one turn after another, after another. I think I'll be disappointed when it "wrap's up" because then it will be over.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Revelation Space?

Of all the Sci-Fi book's I've read, only real good ones open your mind up to "what will/can be" and how that plays out. When I finally got the enormity of Alastair's vision of humanity spread out with dozens of years of travel between each other and what that would mean in terms of "progress", "cultural divergence", and even perspective's of time from the "Ultra's" point of view. When it finally sunk in, my mind went wild with the consequences. The most memorable part was when I understood the vision.

What does John Lee bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

Initially, the narrator bothered me, with all the accents, etc. But, it didn't take long that it fit like a glove. Maybe the narrator was as un-sure as I was, regardless, it flows quite well soon enough. I can easily tell the speaker of the story from the narrator with out annoyance, so that is good.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

Not yet.

Any additional comments?

I do very, very, very few reviews. Only really good books/items/etc warrant time to do this. For the record, I listen 4-6 hours every other weekend (while driving I-95 Highway). This book is very good.

A great story in itself - not just for Eve Online

What did you love best about EVE: Templar One?

A true story that pulled you in. I liked the references to Eve Online and some of the backstory, but it is not absolutely necessary to have ever played the game. All is explained well, as a great story should be.

What other book might you compare EVE: Templar One to and why?

This book covers about as much ground as Dune (the first novel), and takes you just as far in your mind.

Any additional comments?

After listening to this book, I immediately wanted to get the other Tony Gonzales' book, The Empyeran Age, but that is not yet available on Audible....... To bad.

If you could sum up I, Robot in three words, what would they be?

A true epic

What does Scott Brick bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

Scott Brick is my favorite narrator. I'm hard of hearing and have difficulty with some narrators. I think that if I wouldn't have started with Scott's narration, I probably would've dismissed audio books entirely or maybe not even have given them a chance. I've been ordering from Audible since 2004.

Any additional comments?

You should know that the I,Robot started out as a collection of many short stories. Isaac Asimov pulled them all together and made an epic story out of it. Therefore, it gets a bit repetitive, as the protagonists constantly repeat the Laws Of Robotics. However, a grand scale story was put together that spans a person's lifetime. But it is easy to listen to, as each chapter can be listened to in pieces, over time, and generally represents a complete story, in itself.
