Historia
Compiled by intrepid journalist Neve Pride, this archive of recordings spans the months after dragons emerged on earth, chronicling the communities that sprang up amid the destruction, the scientists, military leaders, and experts searching for a defense, and those steadfastly seeking the missing. Neve and her young daughter Bex travel among the wreckage speaking to those left behind and surviving, against all odds. Neve records everything for history, and in the hopes of locating a clue as to where the dragons came from and how one might stop them.

Saturated with politics and wokeness from chapter 1
Revisado: 04-24-25
The point of fantasy is to escape reality, not to get saturated with more politics and wokeness shoved down our throats, it’s not even subtle. Unless you like that sort of thing for fun.

Historia
"No killing Goblins." So reads the sign outside of The Wandering Inn, a small building run by a young woman named Erin Solstice. She serves pasta with sausage, blue fruit juice, and dead acid flies on request. And she comes from another world. Ours. It's a bad day when Erin finds herself transported to a fantastical world and nearly gets eaten by a Dragon. She doesn't belong in a place where monster attacks are a fact of life, and where Humans are one species among many. But she must adapt to her new life. Or die.

Up to ch 17 - stinks. Up to ch 31 - Erin is no better, still hate it, only the new running girl character is worth reading.
Revisado: 04-21-25
Review up to ch 31: I really tried.. other reviews said OT gets better after chapter 20.. nope, Erin does Not get better. The only good thing was introducing an actual great runner girl character, she is amazing and intelligent, if I could only know which chapters have only her I’d only listen only to those. Erin is still an idiotic MC whose stupid decisions cost someone else’s lives, and even then she acts like she is the center of the world. Oh, and periods are normal, 20-something year olds shouldn’t have meltdowns over basic periods like 11 year olds. “Forgetting” about one until a river is flowing down your legs is utterly ridiculous, and who tf kicks bloody pants under a table in a tantrum? Oh yeah, Erin. And guess what, yes there are consequences, and guess what? Yes she throws a tantrum over that too. In addition to MC being the LEAST likable character in this book, the author drones on and on Repetitively and redundantly over the same topics over and over. Like, we get it, you love chess. See, her tantrum skills even rubbed off on me. I’m done with this book.
The narrator has a good normal voice but the way she makes some of the characters sound is cringy. She does a good job with acting and emotions, but I don’t like her voice for the runner girl, or Erin, the ant queen sounds great.
Review up to ch 17: She comes to a completely strange world and expects the existing species and cultures to abide by HER rules and HER morality instead of learning their ways and adapting. Imagine waking up in a remote African village and demanding that all the women cover up their breasts because that’s YOUR moral standard of dressing.. She is apparently in her 20’s but routinely throws temper tantrums, and makes decisions that a 6 year old would make. She talks (along with the voice actor) like an anime girl, way younger sounding than a 20-something year old should be talking like, more a 9 year old feel, and nowhere in the book image or description is there a hint that the genre is anime, or else I would skip it. She literally has to defend herself against morally questionable characters to survive but then acts out a dramatic moral crisis as if she murdered a newborn baby in its mother’s arms, and I thought my 6 year old was a drama queen. It’s sooo difficult to listen to among all the stupid decisions and self wallowing and temper tantrums, and I keep hoping against hope that maybe it will get better soon.... I’m only listening because it’s free and I need to kill the time until my next credit to actually listen to my good fantasy series that I started. Someone said to suffer it out until chapter 20, so I will try.. the narrators normal voice is pleasant but I hate the way the MC sounds.

It’s not easy making the career jump from office-supplies-store middle manager to heroic interdimensional adventurer. At least, Jason tries to be heroic, but it's hard to be good when all your powers are evil. He’ll face off against cannibals, cultists, wizards, monsters...and that’s just on the first day. He’s going to need courage, he’s going to need wit, and he’s going to need some magic powers of his own. But first, he’s going to need pants.

So much hatred toward religions and political agendas
Revisado: 04-19-25
Honestly, I want the world of fantasy to escape into away from this messed up world, not be another place of venting and bitterness by an atheist of how much they hate and disrespect gods and religions, even when faced with actual deities. The whole point of fantasy is to get back to black and white good and evil and escape what we have to face every day. I really wanted to love this book and the world and level building is wonderful, but the amount of bitterness is staggering and really takes the enjoyment out of it, so unfortunately I will have to stop listening.
It’s almost like he is on a deeper level so bitter that a deity from this earth hasn’t personally, physically reached out to him and proved to him that the deity is worthy of being respected. He is trying to prove his own morality so much, and elevates himself above every “church” and religious person as having the best and highest moral ground. He makes churches and officials all seem corrupt and evil, and even physical real gods in that world as laughable. I’m sure that atheists who still harbor deep bitterness will love this book, those of us who are neutral to all religions and know very good and also bad people from many religions don’t want to be dragged down by these preachy lectures. It’s annoying and takes out my enjoyment of a good fantasy adventure. Like, go to therapy dude and stop over-focusing and hating a specific group of people. If you are so good and moral, there should t be this much hate and bitterness and disrespect in the mix. He is literally in a cool brand new magical world and acting like a spoiled little punk. Bleh.

Ahren and his companions journey on to Evergreen, finding new courage after the traumas of the Green Sea. Setting off, then, to traverse the continent in search of the missing Paladin Yollock, it isn't long before they find themselves sucked into a maelstrom of adventures involving a woman who has been robbed, a desperate Cape Verstaad grandee, not to mention a cutthroat city which proves itself a veritable nest of ne'er-do-wells. Controlled by the brilliant assassin Reik Silvermantle, this hub of lawlessness and immorality presents Ahren and his friends with one of their greatest challenges.

Revisado: 03-26-25
The new narrator ruined Cullen!! I’m so upset, whoever’s stupid idea this was to get a new narrator, bring the previous one back! Re-record the books!! This is devious betrayal. I miss the old narrators goofy Cullen.. he also mispronounces Selsina.. he is really ruining the story.. it sounds so bland now. Ugh..

Had me nerve wracked this time
Revisado: 03-25-25
I lived book 1-8 because I just wanted a good old fantasy adventure to listen to without political agendas being forced on the reader, where good overcomes evil, while I’m cleaning the house or driving. I don’t want it to have edge of the seat twists, or suspense, or crying. I just wanted something nice to listen to. And that’s how it was until this book… Oh man.. I cried, I was angry at Aren and one other character, for the first time I couldn’t predict what the author would do, and it really stressed me out. I just wanted a nice predictable vanilla story lol. Hopefully the next book is less dramatic, but I’m hooked.

Historia
Three months ago, Tansy Bloom quit monster hunting. Since then, she’s been trying to live a normal life (whatever that means), but ending up single, unemployed, and living on a boat outside her godfather’s pub definitely wasn’t part of the plan. So, when Tansy’s ex-husband – fellow monster hunter Rex Barclay – turns up like a bad penny and asks for her help with his latest investigation, Tansy reluctantly agrees. At first, the job appears to be a straightforward monster hunt – following a spate of large creature sightings, Rex believes a werewolf is on the loose in Norfolk.

MC is often infuriating and makes stupid decisions
Revisado: 10-04-24
The writing is nice, the narration is nice, but the main character is honestly ridiculous. When I read or listen to adventure books I like to put myself in the MC shoes and almost live vicariously through them, which I why I enjoy female main characters who do cool things. I can’t relate to or enjoy this MC at all. The choices she makes are dumb and way too emotional and I personally would not make them. I related to her mother way more than to her, MC actions are all based on spur of the moment “wants” like a toddler, in my mind a badass female slayer should have more self control and logic. I also can’t relate to her because she seems to be polyamorous and I’m not, I’m very into one love for life type stories or at least one love at a time.. MC is bisexual and I can’t relate to her lesbian feelings at all. If it were instead a strong female friendship then I could relate to it. I could not step into the MC shoes and live out this adventure because I’m the one screaming “No thats a stupid decision!” Like she throws a tantrum, puts herself in unnecessary danger just because, and then it just so happens that she gets “lucky” and it all works out. Also there’s not much of explanation or background to the actual interesting supernatural stories like about the dog and his origin.

Historia
In the world of Warbreaker, each person is born endowed with the power of one Breath―which can be sold and collected by others, then used to Awaken objects and even corpses to do their bidding. A few individuals who die in glory return as gods, with the power of thousands of Breath, but no memory of their mortal lives―and are enthroned in the Court of Gods in Hallandren’s capital. To Vivenna and Siri, princesses of Idris, the abuse of Breath and the claim of the Returned to be gods are repugnant blasphemy.

Good to listen to while cleaning/driving. It was easy to pause and pick up a few days later and still remember what’s going on. The “magic” part was something new, so it was interesting. The ending was satisfactory for my tastes. It can open up to a sequel. I liked the characters.

Zero is just one of 20,000 people aboard a spaceship bound for a new planet set to be colonized. The journey is over a century long but luckily, everyone is in stasis, so they’ll be safe and sound asleep during the trip. Everyone that is, except for Zero, whose pod has malfunctioned, waking him up a hundred years early. His initial excitement in roaming the ship alone quickly turns to a heart-stopping interstellar adventure when a family of space pirates show up, trying to hijack the ship and take the colonizers hostage.

Best performance I’ve heard so far. Excellent story.
Revisado: 08-10-24
I’m not even into space themed stories at all, and I loved this. This book was free and better than ones I’ve paid for. The acting, voices, special effects are all top notch, and pleasant to listen to. The story line is the perfect length, perfect amount of innocence and wit. It was such a nice listen while I’m cleaning the house and safe for all audiences. Enough cool things to learn balanced with entertainment. I’m really glad I gave this a chance.

Putting a child in second place is not ok with me
Revisado: 12-31-23
Mild Spoiler warning. Out of all the books so far I disliked this one the most. As a parent, to me it came across as Melody and Forest putting 6 year old Willow in second place, and focusing on themselves first. I really wish they did everything possible and impossible first to rescue her, but at the end Melody even says something like “what about US? What about what WE went through.” Really? It came across so selfish. As an adult I would put the kid first, and nothing I went through would matter. Other than that I like the main storyline and can’t wait until the void is defeated, and wonder how Rory will continue. I’m skipping the spicy distractions to hear the main story line faster.

One moment in time changed the course of our lives.... For more than two decades, I vow to find her. I'm locked up. Full of rage. Obsessed with remembering every detail about her. When I get out, I scour the Earth. Relentlessly. Mercilessly. I know she's out there. I can still feel her, my firefly glowing in the dark. I'll never stop until she's back in my arms.

No, nurses don’t do tracheotomies! Licensed registered Nurses aren’t even trained to do tracheotomies, much less nursing students! And no, an ER doctor will never request a nursing student by name to go to the ER and help him. Nursing students are closely supervised by their instructors and by the licensed nurse they are assigned to.
I like the whole love so strong that It lasted 20+ years.
But, having a twilight zone moment where she could have been saved if only she did x, sat wrong with me.
All the rapes, sat wrong with me.
I liked the first few books better because the woman was saved and the bad guy got what he deserved, plus all the spice. In this case, the author puts the female characters through way too much grief and pain, especially poor Bridget.
