Historia
Tressalayne is a member of a murderous witches’ coven. An attack by witch hunters forces the coven to escape through a hastily constructed portal of magic. Ripped from her medieval world, the portal hurls Tressalayne and the coven’s leader, Morganna, into present-day East Texas. Critically injured in the passage, Tressalayne awakes in a hospital with no memory of her previous life. Lucas Beckett finds himself in charge of the mysterious patient’s recuperation, and soon develops more than just a medical interest in her recovery.

An absolutely interesting tale
Revisado: 03-24-21
I received this audiobook as part of my participation in a blog tour with Audiobookworm Promotions. The tour is being sponsored by Michael Scott Clifton. The gifting of this audiobook did not affect my opinion of it.
What an absolutely interesting tale.
4 Reasons why this audio book deserved 4 stars:
In a world where there are only so many different story lines and so many tropes being used over and over again – this was a nice change of pace. Not a unique story line, but told in a very unique way by what in my opinion is a very talented author.
Tresselayne is an amazing character. Obviously struggling with a lot – slowly being tormented by her past coming back she has to make peace with the person she was becoming before her accident. Add onto that falling for a man who she could end up hurting makes for a really great character arc.
The struggle between good and evil is excellently written by Michael Scott Clifton. He highlights the balance between the two so well and in such a manner the reader feels the moral struggle themselves.
Absolutely amazing narration. Kendra Murray is absolutely amazingly picked for this role. Her voice, inflection and speech completely lends itself to the story.
So why not 5 stars you say?
I get that we had to set up the story with a looksy in the past – I did however have some trouble getting into the story and had to start it a few times before I could sink it to it properly. But once I did – I couldn’t stop at all.

Realistic and Heartwarming
Revisado: 02-20-21
I received a free copy of this audio book in exchange for an honest review. I was not compensated for my time or thoughts on the above mentioned book.
Holy shit.
Okay – so my reaction might be a little OTT seeing as I read this book a year or so ago. But then I was given the chance to listen to the audio book and I JUMPED (read pounced) on the opportunity.
Ryan. Oh Ryan. Such a sad back story. Such a strong, resilient character. He is to die for. Wait. Poor choice of words. You know what I mean. He is incredibly self sacrificing. He is so sweet. He is so supportive and adorable and HOT AF.
This book touches on a really touchy subject. If you have known someone who passed from the disease or suffered through it, or you yourself have done – you know just how touchy the subject is. But Auryn handled it with class and such a finesse.
And a great amount of detail. Hadley’s books are always well researched and planned out. This one was absolutely no exception. Not once do you feel like she has left out something crucial or didn’t do the story justice with the amount of information she shared. She also did this in such a way that you didn’t feel over burdened with the info either.
Mackenzie is an incredibly strong character, who was really well written. She was also very real. She suffered. She endured. She survived. And she did it while still being real. Think that was pretty well done.
Colby. Oh Auryn – couldn’t he just be a part of their love story too? No? You sure? Oh well fine. Even if he isn’t – he still is a great character. The perfect best friend. To both of them. I loved him. I would have him. For myself. Please?
All in all – I feel this book was a very realistic, if somewhat tame love story filled with heart felt moments that were really easy to get lost in.
And the narration was spot fucking on man. Mercedes has the voice of an angel and she always made me feel like I was experiencing the story with them, not just listening to it.

Very Thrilling and Enjoyable listen
Revisado: 12-20-20
I Received a free copy of this audio book in exchange for my honest opinion.
Jude and Hattie, two sisters, are trying to solve the mystery of what happened to their mom. Not having the greatest relationship the two of them have some bumps and humps to overcome – the biggest being that fact that Jude does not for a second believe in the super natural.
The story takes you on a winding road from point A to R, then to B and X. Basically jumping around quite a bit from past to history. Normally I wouldn’t mind this but being that I was listening to the book I was having some trouble keeping track of the time line as I couldn’t just turn back the pages to to reread if I needed to. But once you get into the story and the two time lines start becoming one there is absolutely nothing about this book that I didn’t enjoy.
Enough suspense and a very detailed story line made this a very thrilling and enjoyable listen.
Hattie has also been blessed (or cursed depending on how you look at it) with the same gifts her mother had, and thanks to these gifts she discovers that her mother never actually died as their grand mother would have them believe. This twist enables a lot of character growth for our very special Hettie. As someone who has kind of just floated through life without really checking in, she is forced to participate in life, to take part of things and engage with the sister that she has never really connected with.
Jude on the other hand is encouraged to become (in my opinion) a little more humble and human. The stereotypical 60’s wild child Jude has no empathy for her sister or any patience for her sisters floaty personality. The story line forces Jude’s eyes to open up to the world out there and even dishes out a bit of heart ache.
I am quite a big fan of the narrator for this one. Ms Voller’s voice weaves a world in which you get lost in. Not a lot of characterization was required but the manor in which she differentiated between the men and woman worked really well (I always tend to find it a bit awkward.)
All in all a really good experience. One I would recommend.

Maximo Vega is a “rock” star! The media proclaimed him "The Sculptor for the New Generation", but he’s a reclusive artist ensnared by fame. Driven and intense, his isolation only adds to his mystique. Couple that with his smoldering good looks and rich Italian accent…fans sigh his name. Emily Baskins is a gifted graduate student at the Stoddard School of Art. To land an internship at the Vega Studio is her golden ticket. All she has to do is follow the rules. And stay out of trouble. Two things Emily has never been able to do.

Satisfying Listen
Revisado: 12-20-20
Em walks into her dream internship with the incredibly famous sculptor Maximo Vega. She cannot believe her luck when not only does she get to work with his genius but he liked her work and ideas so much he gives her a third year job to start working on.
But – when he decides he wants Em to model for him things start escalating really fast. The chemistry between the two of them sparks like mad and they cannot deny their feelings toward one another.
I was not a huge fan of the narration. As a book that is predominantly from the female perspective I didn’t feel it was such a good idea to have a male narrator. On top of that I did have some trouble keeping myself interested in book due to Mr Lee’s inflections when reading Em’s point of view.
This was a really well done story. I Enjoyed the pace at which the story progressed. The relationship between Em and Max really leaves you feeling a little hot under the collar and watching Em grow into a more mature version of herself certainly wasn’t hard on the ears.
The amount of secrets, half truths and outright lies made for a very edgy and intriguing read. I found myself on the edge of my seat waiting for the other shoe to drop. This honestly was the biggest reason why I kept on switching back to the book in the first place.
In the end you are left with a very satisfying HEA and need to actually get your hands on the first book in the series (as I jumped in on #2 with this one).
Very satisfying.

A Really Nice Christmas Story
Revisado: 12-11-20
I received this audiobook as part of my participation in a blog tour with Audiobookworm Promotions. The tour is being sponsored by Stacy Eaton. The gifting of this audiobook did not affect my opinion of it.
Okay – So it is entirely possible that the cold got to her – but Robin started this book out as a really ditzy woman. Which made for very entertaining listening. From the get go things are just not going Robin’s way. And from what you hear – it really hasn’t been going her way for some time now.
Enter the amazing Landry family. First rescued by the teenage son and then welcomed by Chris and Jerry, Robin easily falls into the family vibes. She quickly becomes attached to them all. Problem is – this is just a temporary stop on her way to her new life.
This was a really nice Christmas story – my first this season, and it was a very nice introduction into the holiday vibes. All the characters were really easy to like and very interesting. The sparks / chemistry between Chris and Robin was very mellow ( I would have liked a bit more oomph – but that’s just my over sexed brain talking) and easy to listen to.
A nice short listen – Got it done in one sitting which was a nice change.
Narration was okay – Lisa Beacom has a very easy to listen to voice and she really tried to capture the essence of all the characters and for the most part succeeded. Just not a big fan of the way she did Jerry’s voice. But honestly though – who would find it easy to sound like a kid without sounding at least a little ridiculous.
Other than that well worth the listen!

I wanted one thing: to never fall in love again. But the universe had other plans. One look into Tom Wright's olive-green eyes, and I free-fell crazy in love with the one man destined to break my heart. I know, because I've yet to learn my lesson. The past never dies, and mine is ready to rear its ugly head. Question is, will I be strong enough to survive the fallout?

A really entertaining story with lots of drama
Revisado: 12-11-20
I received this audiobook as part of my participation in a blog tour with Audiobookworm Promotions. The tour is being sponsored by Olivia Boothe. The gifting of this audiobook did not affect my opinion of it.
So this is the second book in the Chronicles of a Dancing Heart series. I did not read or listen to the first one – but it did not subtract from my enjoyment of this one. I was a little lost at times when they referred to past events but it was easy enough to catch up.
I really enjoyed this story. It starts off with a bit of a boom with a pregnancy scare and because of this I immediately fell in love with Tom. After the initial shock wore off he had the cutest reaction to it that he melted my heart completely.
I felt the same way about Sara. The two of them made the most amazing couple. There is so much drama and angst surrounding their relationship and the development of it – but through out it all the two of them are stellar.
And of course I am always a fan of a good twist.
The narration was amazing. I always prefer that an audiobook be narrated by both male and female when a book is from more than one p.o.v as I am not a fan of listening to a woman try and play a man and vice versa. Add to that Tim Paige has such a HOT voice I couldn’t stop listening to him.

Really fun, sweet story
Revisado: 11-19-20
I received this audiobook as part of my participation in a blog tour with Audiobookworm Promotions. The tour is being sponsored by Debra Holland. The gifting of this audiobook did not affect my opinion of it.
My Rating: 4 Stars.
I haven’t read or listened to a historical romance in such a long time. I was incredibly eager to sign up for this review opportunity – and I was not disappointed.
Trudy is this incredibly sweet tale of a young woman taking the steps to gain a bit more independence – and venture into the big unknown world in the only way woman could do in those days without being labeled easy or quite simply a whore. Signing up to marry a complete stranger things start off quite interestingly.
Trudy – as a character is incredibly brave to leave everything she knows behind for, not only an unknown husband, but also a town she has never heard of or been. Add in that she might not be a brat – she has led a very charmed life as the daughter of an influential lawyer. Now she is suddenly thrust into a lifestyle that she isn’t quite used to with a lot fewer luxuries than she has grown accostumed to.
Fear not – how spunky Trudy rolls up her shirt sleeves and gets right to work. After some innitial fretting she settles in quite nicely. And her budding relationship with her husband is incredibly sweet. The way they start off with little affections and grow closer the further along in the story we get.
My only regret is that there wasn’t just a little more substance to the book. I would have love to have just a bit more oomph. Maybe just a bit of action. That does not mean this was not a well written book – I think more just a reflection on where my reading / listening tastes are at, at the moment.
If you are in the mood for a very happy and cotton candy sweet story – this is the one for you.
Narration was absolutely on par. The accents, inflections and characterization was exactly what I would imagine from the era. The characters were authentic and very believable.

A Pretty Darn Amazing Story
Revisado: 11-06-20
I received a copy of this book for free in exchange for an honest review. I was not compensated in any way for my opinions on this story.
Dahlia Nite – possibly the most bad ass character I have come across in quite some time – is an exiled Dragon shifter from Drimera. Running from her inevitable (completely ridiculous – in my humble opinion) execution through one of the exits into our world. Once here she proceeds to keep the human race safe and completely ignorant of all the creepy crawlies that go bump in the night. However things are starting to heat up (Pun So Intended) and Dahlia is having a tough time because the more the story continues – the more obvious it becomes she might have to go back to the one place she never thought she would return.
There were so many things just right with this book. Dahlia really is this incredibly strong and independent character. She gives bad ass new meaning. Once this really scary, cold hearted executioner, I absolutely adored seeing her softer side. Especially seeing as this softer side is the reason she was exiled in the first place.
Then we get to the story line – intense, action and mystery filled with incredibly great world building by C.L. Schneider. The imagery was so well done and easy to visualize and imagine that I at times, found myself lost in this really colourful (if sometimes a little dark and morose) world.
Add in the amazingly well written supporting characters, from the returning ex to the mysterious bartender and computer geek this book pretty much had it all.
The narration was pretty on par – Dahlia’s character sounded exactly as I would have imagined her to with this rough, and a little growly voice. The narrator had a very easy to listen to cadence to her voice and I quite easily lost myself to her story telling ability.
All in all a pretty darn amazing read.

Really amazing book with a great story line
Revisado: 10-14-20
I have recently rediscovered my love of the cozy mystery (the last time being when I was 10 and reading Hardy Boys and Nancy Drew) and I gotta say the last few weeks (has it been months already???) I have loved reintroducing myself to the joys and love of a well written mystery that keeps you on your toes and guessing.
This was one of those mysteries. Lauren Carr is a genius with the red herrings and the misleading of your attention. She is a masterful story teller who created such vibrant characters that I fell in love with every single one of them.
I really loved the addition of a social influencing dog. It is not something I have ever read or listened to before and added a funky twist to the book that I would probably not have missed but now that I know it exists – I will be looking for in future books.
Now the narration – I am of two minds. She had an amazing voice, incredibly melodic and easy to listen to but her story telling left me feeling a bit ‘meh’. I loved little things like the tinny sound of a character’s internal thoughts or the messages between Nikki and Nerdy Guy and the sound of the GPS lady coming through when Nikki used her GPS. The characterisation was really well done in some cases – like this of Nikki’s mom, housekeeper and sister Julia but the voice of the antagonistic characters came through a bit too harsh.
All in all a really amazing book – great story line, interesting characters and amazing twists and turns.

A Really Good Listen
Revisado: 10-11-20
I received this audiobook as part of my participation in a blog tour with Audiobookworm Promotions. The tour is being sponsored by Rena Koontz. The gifting of this audiobook did not affect my opinion of it.
My Rating: 4 Stars
So Jennifer has had a rough time of it when it comes to men in uniform. From the friendly neighbourhood postman turning out to be a child predator to her ex-fiance being a big ol’ cheat she cannot really say she has ever had a good experience when it comes to a man in a uniform. And her first impressions of Max aren’t really all that great either. When Max is called out to investigate her burglary he puts his foot in his mouth – on more than one occasion.
This was a really lovely story. Jeffifer’s growth from (lets be honest here) a wall flower to this amazingly secure and confident woman was really nice to witness and watching her relationship with Max unfurl was sweet and precious. I loved that there was no rush in their story (other than their little surprise).
Max was also a really great character – if a little too perfect. I mean every man has got to have some flaws and he didn’t show us to many of them. He was a bit of a stereotypical male character.
And then all the supplementary characters were really good. From best friends (Laney & Lenny) to over protective brothers (Jerry) their wasn’t a character left out. Add in a bit of a mystery that needs solving a long with some loss that needs to be overcome and I feel like this book had some real grit to it.
My issue with the book was mostly due to the narration. I felt it was a little lacking. The tone of voice came across as all being on one level and I wasn’t an overly big fan of the narrator’s ‘male voices’.
All in all though – a really good listen. Easy to fall into no matter my mood and at times a little tough to switch off.
