15 minutes in. ”Jugh-die” for the fifty third time and I'm really regretting spending a credit.

Don't know how to feel about this one

I enjoyed this one but there are so many details that drove me crazy. There are certain points when the main character has no business being there and other times when he is just there, like Raiders of the Lost Ark he has no involvement in changing the outcome. Or the government agent who doesn't really have any other agents to help him stop a series of terrorist plots?
The beginning was a little hard to get into for me but once I got about 3 hours in I was all the introductions and the narrator found his groove and I enjoyed the ride. It was more in retrospect that I started having issues. Still not sure how I feel. It was fun but I don't think I had as much fun as I did with other Crichton adventures.

Grew up with the movie. As an adult now I have a great appreciation for how much better the book is. The ending is spoiled in the author's forward, but also has fun insight into the public revelation of the real author. it's on the shorter side of Kings works but its direct and makes it's commentary and doesn't drag.

If you're reading this book then you also probably read a lot of news, so there's not really anything new but it's all pulled into a narrative that helps to inform the author's interview with the former president and why he believes his own fairy tales at the end of the book. It offers a lot of clarity and is very cathartic to hear how much EVERYONE despised Rudy.
