Historia
Just before two dueling book clubs are set to square off at Death by Coffee, one of the competitors turns up dead - bludgeoned with the silver teapot that was to serve as the prize. Suspicion immediately falls on Krissy, who was seen skulking around town in dark clothes on the night of the murder.

The most unlikeable heroine I’ve ever encountered
Revisado: 02-02-25
I disliked this book intensely and so did my husband. The main character/heroine is whiney, self-involved, and constantly complains about her bad luck (which is nothing more than the results of her poor choices). She comes across as really uninteresting and just plain dumb. I’ve never written a bad book review before because I realize not all books appeal to all readers, but you could drive a truck through the holes in this plot and it left us angry at the ending. Reader beware.

Another fabulous story!
Revisado: 10-22-24
I simply love the characters in the Anastasia Pollack series, but it is the humor and the writing that keeps me coming back for more! Lois Winston just has a way of crafting a phrase that makes me laugh out loud again and again. Her humor is always new and inventive, the storylines keep me wondering, and I look forward to my audiobook time every day, as I knit, listen and laugh out loud! Guilty as framed is another winner and I recommend it to anyone who likes a funny, interesting mystery!

Historia
Clayton Stumper might be in his twenties, but he dresses like your grandpa and fusses like your aunt. Abandoned at birth on the steps of the Fellowship of Puzzlemakers, he was raised by a group of eccentric enigmatologists and now finds himself among the last survivors of a fading institution. When the esteemed crossword compiler and main maternal presence in Clayton’s life, Pippa Allsbrook, passes away, she bestows her final puzzle on him: a promise to reveal the mystery of his parentage and prepare him for life beyond the walls of the commune.

Incredibly thoughtful and brilliantly crafted
Revisado: 08-31-24
I loved every minute of this book. It was so nice to see Clayton’s evolution over the course of the story. The narration was outstandinge and the story was life affirming. I’m so sorry to see it end, but these characters will remain part of me forever.

With massive debt, a communist mother-in-law, a Shakespeare-quoting parrot, and a photojournalist boyfriend who may or may not be a spy, crafts editor Anastasia Pollack already juggles too much in her life. So she’s not thrilled when her magazine volunteers her to present workshops and judge a needlework contest at the inaugural conference of the New Jersey chapter of the Stitch and Bake Society, a national organization of retired professional women.

Revisado: 08-24-24
I just loved this story! Once again, Anastasia Pollack kept me entertained, interested and curious to learn more. Lois Winston’s characters have a great sense of humor and the mystery keeps me wondering until the very end! I’ve recently discovered Audible books and love to listen to them while I knit. You cannot go wrong with any of the Anastasia Pollack books!

Fantastic book by an outstanding author
Revisado: 01-22-23
This author never disappoints. Her characters are quirky, interesting and her stories keep me guessing. This book made me laugh out loud at the humor and sarcasm. The audio version lets me do chores and run errands with a smile on my face. I love the endings because you feel satisfied and happy after reading her books. Another great book by Lois Winston! Highly recommended.
