Historia
Robert Pendleton is a chemical genius with a fertilizer worth a fortune to whoever controls the formula. Not surprisingly, the Bank, his notoriously exclusive backer, wants to keep an eye on its investment. But so does the CIA. And the Chinese government. And a few shadier organizations. So when Pendleton disappears from a conference in San Francisco, along with all of his research, Neal Carey enters the picture.

Way out there
Revisado: 11-10-23
Winslow is a good story teller and I stuck with it to the end, but the story line was too unbelievable and the idiocy of the main character got tiring.

Historia
The tranquility of a luxury cruise along the Nile was shattered by the discovery that Linnet Ridgeway had been shot through the head. She was young, stylish, and beautiful. A girl who had everything...until she lost her life. Hercule Poirot recalled an earlier outburst by a fellow passenger: “I’d like to put my dear little pistol against her head and just press the trigger.” Yet under the searing heat of the Egyptian sun, nothing is ever quite what it seems.

Narration hit and miss
Revisado: 08-23-19
Good story, good narration of Hercule Poirot. However, I agree with other reviews - narration of Colonel Race was hard to take.

Historia
When Robin Ellacott opens an unexpected delivery, she is horrified to discover that it contains a woman's severed leg. Her boss, private detective Cormoran Strike, is less surprised but just as alarmed. He suspects that four people from his past could be responsible - and any one of them is capable of sustained and unspeakable brutality. With the police focusing on the one suspect Strike has essentially ruled out, he and Robin take matters into their own hands and delve into the dark and twisted worlds of the other three men.

Romance or Mystery?
Revisado: 08-02-18
The usual good story telling that you expect. Except the relationhsip storyline got a bit tiring. The ending was quite satisfactory on both the mystery and interpersonal sides though.

Tiresome
Revisado: 09-13-16
The story is interesting enough to keep me listening to the end, but I wished the end would come sooner so it would be over with. I found myself getting impatient with the story and narration. The constant, inappropriate, sighing; people just don’t sigh that much. Harry’s endless, brooding, self-reflection, and blaming himself for everything, his fault or not (mostly not). His relationship with Lt. Murphy; she’s one-dimensional and unreal. He should be done with her already.
I find it easier to believe in the existence of werewolves, than the personalities and relationships of the characters.

Historia
For the first time in 300 years, Scotland has its own Parliament, and to go with it, its own newly developed Parliament buildings. Detective Inspector John Rebus views the whole thing through a rather jaundiced eye, given that he's been chosen to liaise with the restructuring of the whole building.

One for the true Rebus fans
Revisado: 12-01-11
I don't think Gilies is the best of the Rebus narrators. Though I am not from Scotland, his accent sounds a bit too formal for my likings compared to the others who really do a good job capturing class differences with their various accents. Also, a few of his voices sound too similar to his Rebus, but his Cafferty is amazing. Beyond him, the book is quite good, and of the 9 rebus books Ive listened to, this is one of my favorites. It takes a while to get settled into, as this is one of Rankins more complex plots, but its worth it if you can stick with it and the ending is very satisfying. Not sure if Id pay $30 for it but it was definitely worth the credit.
