Loved it, loved it, loved it... Solzhenitsyn's gift to convey thoughts, emotions, to portray reality of life is outstanding... This book is probably the best I had listed too so far. Over 18 hours long, it is probably not a novella, but a novel. The narration is outstanding as well. Yes, there is a lot of pain in this book, but I did not find it depressing. Author's raw honesty transports you into this Cancer ward, and you get to know it's denizens...

Alexander Kuprin is one of the greatest Russian authors. Such a gift to portray emotion, to draw vivid pictures of internal life of individuals, hard to find elsewhere. This narrator was absolutely awesome too. Highly recommend it.

A Russian classic re discovered. Enjoyed this immensely. Very gifted narrator. I felt as I was there, in 18 century Russia, in the midst of Pugachev’s uprising. And of course this is a love story too.

Amazing

Too bad that Alexander Kuprin is not as well-known as Tolstoy or Dostoyevsky. He is a real genius. Really enjoyed listening to this the narrator did an amazing job too.
Kuprin’s greatest gift was describing the intricacies of the human soul, the storms of emotions. Raw honesty about the human condition is what touched my heart when I was listening to it.

This edition has an outstanding narrator. Really really enjoyed this book. This is a classic of course so no review required. Hopefully this will help those who are looking for better narration.

Amazing

An extraordinary account by Felix Yusupov. Kept me riveted. A incredible chapter in the war of good versus evil. The story of Rasputin made me think about all those that take advantage of the weaknesses of others, ruthlessly promoting themselves. The world seems to always have a Rasputin, Hitler, Stalin etc. Felix Yusupov decided to take a stand against evil.Fascinating details of history of that time make this book unique and worth your time.

Funny and entertaining, great narration

Of course you have to be a Russian speaker to enjoy this - and I never expected Dostoevsky's work to be so funny and entertaining. I was laughing out loud, The narration is phenomenal, artfully spot on. Loved this and going to listen to everything this narrator has available.

It is hard to find words to review this. The whole world knows it is a classic. The narrations was amazing, like being in a theater. I am 58 years old, and it took me this long to be able to read(or listen) to Dostoevsky. As a teen growing up in the former Soviet Union, I tried to read his works, but promptly put it down, because it was "hard". Since Russian is my mother tongue, I decided to listen to it in the original language. It's incredible. Dostoevsky's genius, the depth of his understanding of human soul, philosophy and psychology, is beyond words. I cannot even say that I "enjoyed" this book - it would not do justice - I felt shaken to the core.

Engrossing - brings history to life

C.W. Gortner is a master of historical fiction. This book brought to life the history of the Romanovs, their downfall. Utterly riveting and masterfully executed. The narration was all right, not first rate, and many Russian names were "butchered" by the narrator. Still, a wonderful listen. Made me go to Wikipedia and look up all the descendants of the Romanovs .
