Historia
Man’s Search for Meaning is the chilling yet inspirational story of Viktor Frankl’s struggle to hold on to hope during the unspeakable horrors of his years as a prisoner in Nazi concentration camps. Between 1942 and 1945 Frankl labored in four different camps, including Auschwitz, while his parents, brother, and pregnant wife perished. Based on his own experience and the experiences of those he treated in his practice, Frankl argues that we cannot avoid suffering, but we can choose how to cope with it, find meaning in it, and move forward with renewed purpose.

Chilling realisation that suffering can have or give meaning to life.
The depth of the discussion after the concentration camp autobiographical account. Puts many things in perspective for both then and now.
A great read for people perhaps struggling with stress and searching for something more in their lives.

Heavy atmospheric story.
Revisado: 08-23-20
The main narrator and the other voice actors consistency is a bit weird. I don't know what the criteria for when the narrator handle d the voices vs the actors. It took me a while to figure out why the voices were so different of occasion.
I found the story was very entertaining. It is a very political and atmosphere heavy story line. And might not been for all.

Historia
Among Americans, diabetes is more prevalent today than ever. Obesity is at epidemic proportions; nearly 10% of children are thought to have nonalcoholic fatty liver disease. And sugar is at the root of these, and other, critical, society-wide, health-related problems. With his signature command of both science and straight talk, Gary Taubes delves into Americans' history with sugar: its uses as a preservative, as an additive in cigarettes, the contemporary overuse of high-fructose corn syrup.

A stroll through a very interesting experiment
Revisado: 08-31-19
If you're looking for a quick guide to the secrets of memory techniques, this isn't it. Its not supposed to be.
Joshua extensively delves into the world of memory as a whole and has very neatly wrapped into the timeline of his experiment to improve his memory.
I feel he did a great job to expose what it really takes to get to where he was and demystified the topic quite well. There is enough info to start the practice of memory techniques but with the realisation that it's going to take effort to get good at it.
I enjoyed the book and Mike Chamberlain has a very informative and documentary like tone of voice which made it easy to breeze through the book.

Did you know that most of our dinosaur fossils were discovered because two grown men absolutely hated each other? It’s true! Rivals! Frenemies Who Changed the World is a riotous audio exclusive, like if Monty Python taught your history class. Each volume of four 30-minute histories will dig into the petty name-calling and grumbling grudges that led to many of the world’s greatest advancements, all delivered with a cheeky sense of humor. Choose sides: Cope or Marsh, the jerks who discovered so many dinosaurs; Hamilton or Burr, whose rivalry fueled American politics; and many more....

Interesting history lesson
Revisado: 08-23-19
Brilliant stories and insights into 4 ridiculous rivalries.
Detracting from the entire impression was the irritating California valley girl voice for Mary Queen of Scots. Even with the homage to her at the end of the book attempting to make up for it, still there are better ways of adding to the humour.

Historia
On the surface, the Victorian age is one of propriety, industry, prudishness and piety. But scratch the surface and you’ll find scandal, sadism, sex, madness, malice and murder. Presented by Stephen Fry, this series delves deep into a period of time we think we know, to discover an altogether darker reality. The stories we’re told offer a different perspective on an era which underwent massive social change. As education, trade, technology and culture blossomed, why was there an undercurrent of the ‘forbidden’ festering beneath Victorian society?

Interesting peek into the life of minimalism
Revisado: 11-13-18
Not a practical guide to transforming your life into a minimalistic one. However, definitely a great look at what impact it can have. The experiences expressed in the book relates mostly to someone already out of school and working, I wouldn't feel satisfied reading this if I wasn't already an "established" adult with a wife, career and two kids.
I don't think I would have appreciated the message as much, if I had not already, in my own life, trudged through the many examples in the book.
All and all a great read.

Historia
What valuable company is nobody building? The next Bill Gates will not build an operating system. The next Larry Page or Sergey Brin won't make a search engine. If you are copying these guys, you aren't learning from them. It's easier to copy a model than to make something new: doing what we already know how to do takes the world from 1 to 10, adding more of something familiar. Every new creation goes from zero to one. This book is about how to get there.
