Every once in a while, a book comes along that will follow you through life. This is one of those books. A tale of two very different - but very similar- women, it was exquisitely well crafted and a pleasure to read. My only negative is that the feminist statement was not subtle. In a book that was otherwise seamlessly woven and wonderful, I really felt like message didn’t need to be hammered home. Maybe I’m wrong and we as a society have become unable to comprehend without being “told.” If so, my apologies for the complaint, because this book is so good that it’s truly a minor issue. Thank you to the author, and this reader gives you a standing ovation!

As a physician and career long Fauci Fan, I was happy to listen to his autobiography. As always, unapologetic in presenting his truths. An honorable man and true American Hero.

I finished this book because I finish books, but I think I was done with it about halfway through. What would have made a good short story made a tedious book. And in the end, it didn’t really seem like the author had grown or changed. She merely endured. Glad it was a freebee. Next!!

Unapologetically romantic sci-fi love story. Well written and produced with great cast performances. An absolute pleasurable listen!

While a bit predictable, the story was still fun. The reader sounded so much like a computer, I had to double check that it wasn’t recorded with virtual voice.

Although the info says this was recorded in 2017, sounds like it was written pre 1990. Just a little distracting from being able to suspend disbelief. Interns use these devices called computers now and input their own orders, unless they are phoning something in, which would later be electronically co-signed. We hand wrote orders up to a point, but by the time I retired as a physician in mid 2015 everything in the medical record was completely electronic. No paper charts. Not sure if they carry pagers anymore, but I just had a cell phone. Cute story nonetheless

I love these stories because they are well written and historically accurate
Most historical fiction bends the history to the story, but Ms Brannon’s work weaves her fictional character into the true history. I particularly loved and hated this book. I didn’t like all the torture scenes, but they were factual and represented the treatment at the time. I also loved it that the ultimate outcome was one I would have hoped for!

What a tremendous person Captain Sandy is! Perhaps if I were young and we weren't of the same age, I would become a boat captain instead of a physician. I read this because I love the sea, but I learned so much more than what a simple boat story can tell. (Sandy, if you ever need a doctor on board, give me a holler. I would be honored to serve under you.) You are truly a wonderful role model and inspiring to a generation of women. Your book gives me hope. If young people can hear your message, I'm sure you will spur many to a better future!

Good story but I couldn't quite give it 5 stars. Had the main character been aged at fresh out of college, I would have bought her emotional and intellectual maturity. But I've never yet met a high schooler like this, so I had a tad bit of trouble with the suspension of reality necessary to really believe in her.
