This was entirely too long and kind of sexist. I expected better. Since this mystery is now somewhat solved, it doesn’t make sense to read this long tome of family drama, who is dating whom, and FB battles. I love Robert Kolker but this wasn’t it.

This a very ambitious book packed with a couple of disparate themes. The first theme: longevity. This part of the book was excellent and I definitely learned some new things that I will take with me to the gym and my doctor’s office and beyond.

I feel like the second theme was of one of memoir. Like Peter had 2 books here and he combined them into one massive and often mind-numbing tome. I respect Peter for being vulnerable and sharing his story but a book on longevity ended up being very Peter-centric in a way that just added to the massive amounts of information already in this book.

Peter begins each chapter with a quote. In 16 out of 17 chapters these quotes were by men. Women notice this type of bias and it made the book less legitimate for me as a result.

This book was too long and rather boring. The level of detail- especially during the middle section detailing Harry’s military service - was unnecessarily tedious. I’m still team Harry and Megan - but the book was just meh.

I was late to the Hannah Gadsby party- somehow coming across her book before discovering her comedy. Her book and Netflix shows have been quite transformative for me. I can’t wait for more from Hannah!

I’m an experienced IF’er and found this to be mostly review. I’ve read Gin Stephens and Jason Fung so I’m well-versed in insulin sensitivity and metabolic flexibility etc. I was mostly interested in this because I want to learn more about IF and macros for menopausal women. There was plenty of good information about that in this book.

I really like Cynthia Thurlow and have listened to many great interviews and podcasts with her. I was a little surprised then when I heard her “audiobook” voice - Cynthia has little to no affect in her reading voice and it was surprisingly uncomfortable to listen to. Hopefully for future books she has a different reader.

This is a great book for someone looking to expand their horizons- although I had to listen to a lot of it twice so I could understand it! I think it was unfortunate that Katie Mack only read the first chapter- she is an excellent narrator and I felt her love for her subject. The recorded book definitely loses something when the lovely, polished, vanilla voice of Gabra Zackman takes over- especially after hearing the author read the first chapter. I would love to listen to this again but only with the author as narrator!

This book is astoundingly well-researched. I was frequently taken aback by the level of detail. It is written in an easy to follow, linear fashion. I was born in the late sixties and my parents had their own hippie food thing going on so this book was quite interesting to me. I highly recommend it.

This was an interesting story and well read by Mariah. But it went on for about 4 hours too long. It was kind of all over the place and by the end I was tired of the “woe is me victim Mariah.”

Wow. While I had followed the trial of Larry Nassar and the subsequent and ongoing issues of USAG, I had NO idea that it was Denhollander’s single minded tenacity and fierceness who wrought justice for all the survivors. Remarkable and superbly written and read. Highly recommended
