Good not great. I wasn't really into the narrative structure, especially in this kind of book. At times it felt more like a novel, which isn't BAD, just different.

Historia
In a world increasingly ruled by numbers and algorithms, award-winning journalist Chris Jones makes a compelling case for a more personal approach to analytical thinking. The Eye Test is a necessary course correction, a call for a more balanced, personal approach to problem-solving. Award-winning journalist Chris Jones makes the case for the human element - for what smart, practiced, devoted people can bring to situations that have proved resistant to analytics.

Historia
Hillbilly Elegy is a passionate and personal analysis of a culture in crisis - that of white working-class Americans. The decline of this group, a demographic of our country that has been slowly disintegrating over 40 years, has been reported on with growing frequency and alarm but has never before been written about as searingly from the inside. J. D. Vance tells the true story of what a social, regional, and class decline feels like when you were born with it hung around your neck.

My Weekend's With Memaw
Revisado: 02-25-21
Do you want something written by someone who has no actual clue on the source material? This book is for you.
This is as much about hillbilly culture as it is The Lord of the Rings. Vance pretends to be a part of a world that he is not part of, and part of a culture that he knows actually very little about.
I have never met anyone who is part of the region he pretends to know, who thinks this book is worth the time.
If you aren't a part of this culture, this region, you'll probably love the book. It's for outsiders, written by an outsider, who has no clue what he is talking about. If you actually care or are actually interested, avoid this book and find something better. It shouldn't be hard.
