Storytelling

There’s a reason everyone loves a good story, and dang does Penny have some great ones to tell! From personal to professional, each one is gripping. I listened in one go, I couldn’t stop. Plus it’s always good to hear an author telling their own story. Definitely recommended

Confusing and boring

I usually love Tracy and her team, but unfortunately this book was not it. The days of fun killer hunting are over it seems. The Last Line was okay, but it leaned into the politics of the police department heavily, and less on storytelling and character development. This book was a worse continuation of that. It was mostly political, directly followed the case in the Last Line, and had so many names and old connections my brain hurt. Ultimately, there was little suspense and no empathy for the victims (their stories weren’t told, they were just names). I wish I hadn’t spent the credit.

Couldn’t find a negative point if I tried. Absolutely fantastic from start to finish. These characters keep bringing me back like old friends, and the mystery is on point.

So, the book was a great resource of information about hospice/ death and dying. Unfortunately I didn’t read that in the description like I should have. I was hoping it would be more stories about her time as a hospice nurse. This book is a concise summary of everything on her TikTok. It’s a great book!

Ingredients for Success

A fairytale, plus mystery, plus historical fiction, all brought to life by nuanced characters and a likable protagonist, and set against the rich tapestry of China and Japan. Add in the authors *excellent* narration, and this audiobook gets a solid 5/5, but I wish it could be 10!

Well worth a credit!

Sager did it again. Such a great book, great narration. I couldn’t put it down. Sometimes the twist at the end of a RS novel can require a little too much suspended belief, but not this one. It kept me guessing, surprised me, but didn’t overdo it. I would definitely recommend!!

Fun and Fast paced

These books might not be great works of literature, but they’re fun. The mysteries are good (if slightly predictable). The plots are fast paced, and hook you quickly. The characters are super likable, if slightly underdeveloped. I highly recommend them if you’re looking for an interesting, easy story that’s fun and satisfying!!

Wait what?

Definitely started out strong, lots of plot threads. But about halfway through I started to doubt they would all come together, and that’s what ended up happening. It wasn’t ever boring, but the ending was just too unbelievable for me. The narrator was fantastic though!
