I've almost read all of Chesneys regency period novels I have about ten more to go. This one was just terrible!

This book was only around four hours long and I had to suffer through it. It was completely unrealistic. I love MC Beaton but this book was so not my cup of tea. AND the narrator was terrible.

Any additional comments?

I love Georgette Heyer's regency novels. I think she is a better and more interesting writer than Jane Austen. That being said, I decided to give all her regency novels a shot and made a list of them in order to be sure I read each one. This book however, missed the mark. I'll have to try it again later. It was so slow and so confusing. I trudged through the first seven chapters, forcing myself to keep listening, and finally called it quits.

Heyer likes to use real places and events in some of her books. In this one she uses the war in Spain. She goes into great detail to describe things in detail, which is what makes it so monotonous.

If you're looking for an amazing book by Heyer don't choose this one. I've almost completed my list of reading all her regency books.
I would recommend:
Black Sheep, Lady of Quality, The Grand Sophy, or The Nonesuch. She has many good ones but these are my favorites.

What disappointed you about Lord of Scoundrels?

It is very frustrating to read a few reviews on a book, all saying the book is wonderful, but none mentioning the fact that it is a bunch of raunchy sex scenes with a story thrown in there.

Would you ever listen to anything by Loretta Chase again?

No

Have you listened to any of Kate Reading’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

I have listened to Kate Reading before. She is a fantastic narrator.

If you could play editor, what scene or scenes would you have cut from Lord of Scoundrels?

I would have cut all the raunch. It's in poor taste.

Any additional comments?

One of the reviews I read before listening compared Loretta Chase's writing style to Georgette Heyer's. I guarantee Georgette would be spinning in her grave at that comment.

Where does Longing for Home rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

As far as audiobooks go this one was fantastic. The narrator did a great job. I love Sarah's books but I think this one was one of the best. (And it's going to have a sequel so the story keeps going) which makes it even better!

What other book might you compare Longing for Home to and why?

It was similar to any of Sarah's other books, except that this happened in the American West and not regency England. I wouldn't compare it to the others I've read about the west, this one was infinitely better.

Which scene was your favorite?

I liked what Tavish was willing to give up for Katie. But I won't say more because I don't want to spoil anything. The book is still left wide open and a lot of the issues weren't resolved and I"m guessing won't be until the sequel comes in Spring 2014.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

It's Amazing Sauce! ;) I'm no good at tag lines

Any additional comments?

I'm from Wyoming so I could appreciate a lot of the descriptions Sarah used. Plus I am also a regency writer so I follow her work closely (and love it.) I think she did a wonderful job jumping over to a new style of historical romance. She is a wonderfully uplifting writer and I enjoy her stories more than any other historical romance novelist out there right now.

The narrator did a great job. I think capturing the irish accent was tough but she did okay doing it! I'll definitely look for other books by her.

What disappointed you about Lady of Milkweed Manor?

I have read all of Julie Klassen's books. This one was the worst. It was so depressing. But because I was determined to finish it out I kept going. The information the author collected was good. You could tell she put a lot of effort into gathering historical facts etc. It talks a lot about and describes breast feeding in great detail. My husband walked in while I was listening to a particular section on nursing and asked, "What the heck are you listening too?"

What do you think your next listen will be?

My next audiobook will be by Sarah M. Eden called Longing For Home.

What do you think the narrator could have done better?

I thought the narrator was fine. He had a nice strong voice. However, when he did the voices of female characters (which was a lot) it was almost comical. Definitely would have been better read by a woman.

What character would you cut from Lady of Milkweed Manor?

That's a dumb question. I wouldn't "cut" out characters. It wasn't the characters that were the issue.

Any additional comments?

I believe this was the first or one of the first books Julie Klassen wrote. Her writing style and stories have gotten better with time. She definitely does her research when she writes a historical romance, which I can appreciate, and am sure takes a lot of time and effort. I hate books that are depressing and this one topped the list.
