I stuck with this until the bitter end constantly hoping the characters would evolve. The leading lady was weak, and annoying at times. I found myself rolling my eyes at her pathetic self talk & so wishing she would have had even the smallest of backbones! I wish Nancy Thayers would’ve developed a stronger female character for this book. Lots of missed opportunities. The story was stale at times. And just plain annoying. Take a pass on this one!

🙄 Waste of time & money

Another vapid, name dropping novel with loathsome characters. Reads like the most annoying Instagramer you follow. I don’t know why I am eternally hopeful that I will enjoy a Hildebrand novel but every time I’m duped by these reviews. My only question is. How much money does the author get on kick backs from brand endorsements and restaurant name dropping. It’s so stuffed with over indulgence it’s unbearable. Finished purely cause I’m not a quitter. But sigh. Disappointed again and again. Shame on me for going back for more. Never again!

Disappointing and frankly - boring

I love Cape Cod and after living through lockdowns I was hopeful that this would be a good read - based on the description. Also, so disappointing. The characters are all so unlikable I just couldn’t even finish.

A MUST listen!

Nothing short of fantastic! This was one of THE best audio books I’ve listened to in a long time. The story was amazing and wonderfully woven. Mitch Albom is a master wordsmith and creative storyteller as well as narrator. He brought to life historical facts with fictional characters in a way few others can accomplish. I highly highly recommend!

Not her best!

I’m a big Nancy Thayer fan but I have to say. This fell short of what I was expecting. It perhaps could have been then awful narration. She sounded like a robot. Very mechanical and unnatural speech. Her impressions of the male voice was better than the women. While a decent story, my advice is take it or leave it.

Delightful Christmas story but the narrator...

I enjoyed the story for its unique Christmas quality. However, the narrator’s voice was annoyingly sweet making the female characters seem dimwitted which was unfortunate. The writing was decent enough to over come that but the narrator detracted from the overall story.

I absolutely loved listening to James Taylor’s story in his own words. My only recommendation is to listen while in your car!! That way when you are crying or belting out his amazing songs no one is around to hear you! So honored to have the opportunity to hear the stories behind the songs and the man. What a gift. My forever favorite artist!

Sweet story

I appreciate the premise of the story but the main character falls very short. Mia is Sweet but so narcissistic - Distractingly so that she is quite unlikeable. She whines throughout the entire novel and everything is about her. The noble did have poignant lessons and a sweet story. I debating giving up but glad I followed through until the end. The reader did her best white what she was given!
