Historia
Harry Potter has never even heard of Hogwarts when the letters start dropping on the doormat at number four, Privet Drive. Addressed in green ink on yellowish parchment with a purple seal, they are swiftly confiscated by his grisly aunt and uncle. Then, on Harry's eleventh birthday, a great beetle-eyed giant of a man called Rubeus Hagrid bursts in with some astonishing news: Harry Potter is a wizard, and he has a place at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. An incredible adventure is about to begin!

A truly beloved and timeless series
Revisado: 12-22-22
We read the HP series at home to our kids often. We’re currently reading book 5. My 8 year old was so excited when the series became available on audible that we’re now on the path of collecting all the books on here. They already had a love of fantasy fiction. So HP was always on our radar. Now when they go to sleep, they can hear one of their favorite beloved stories as they lull off to sleep and dream about a magical world where they can do something magical themselves. I was already an adult when the first movie came out and that’s when I got hooked. I’m so glad that our kids are able to enjoy this series so much sooner than we could.

Candid and vulnerable, Perry lays it all out there.
Revisado: 11-12-22
I’m not going to lie. I cried A LOT listening to Matthew Perry talk candidly about his life. There was some lightheartedness sprinkled in his very complicated story. It was mostly very heavy information and honestly, it hit home and was very relatable. If you’re interested in psychology, this is a good read. I just loved it. I’m also a big fan of Friends and now that Matthew has explained what was happening in his private life during specific seasons and plot points during the show, I’m going to rewatch it with a different perspective. My heart breaks for him and I understand feeling abandoned and neglected and what that does to a person who has experienced so much PTSD (C-PTSD in this case) and while I personally didn’t cope with substances, it is very understandable why he did. I hope and pray he will continue to stay sober and find peace in his life.

Maybe I misunderstood something
Revisado: 10-03-22
I went into reading this book expecting to learn ways to teach myself how to better engage with my children to help them be successful at helping around the house and with others. The biggest takeaway I got from this book was to let them learn by trying without any real guidance. And ignore them when they’re “not behaving”. Maybe this works for a lot of people. But coming from a background of neglect and corporal punishment in the household, I don’t feel like this is a good approach for me or my family. There are a few things I definitely agree with in the book including allowing my kids to help with any chores or cooking/baking when they want to. And if the toddler sees me vacuuming or sweeping and grabs the tool(s) from me to try themselves, I think that’s great! But when my toddler is the only child at the playground and they ask me to chase them, I don’t agree with ignoring them or telling them to figure out their own fun while I just sit there and observe them. I feel that anytime your child is asking you to interact with them, or misbehaving, is an opportunity to bond with them and create an environment where trust and love can grow. Maybe that’s just me, or maybe I’m missing something from what the author was saying. But I just couldn’t get behind the whole “ignore them and let them figure it out themselves.” Mentality. It could work for some kids and foster strong independence, so I understand that perspective. But I personally think there’s more emotionally healthy ways to foster strong independence in children that won’t leave them possibly feeling alone and confused.

Amy delivers an engaging performance
Revisado: 08-22-22
If you’re a fan of Amy Poehler, you will thoroughly enjoy her reading of her own book. It’s very authentic and relatable. Amy is very smart and quick witted. You will laugh at the majority of this book. There’s some sad and heavy topics, but the way she reads this book makes me feel like I’m on the adventures with a friend that makes me laugh constantly. My heart feels happy after finishing this book.

A mindful adventure
Revisado: 08-06-22
My 7yo initially found this book at the library and we read it through. She was captivated from the start by the mystery of it all. The book is well written and hooks you similarly to Harry Potter except sadly, no magic. We were also in a Nancy Drew phase, and this story was along those lines, but more modern. There’s a little bit of language we don’t want our kids using at home in the book, but we address that as we’re reading together so they understand that the author is using it as a way to enhance the characters’ image for the reader, but we don’t speak that way to anyone ourselves. While my 7yo daughter loves this series (there’s 2 books), my 7yo nephew is scared of it because there’s blood and it can get intense for newer readers, I personally recommend this book for 9+ years old. My child is 7 though and listens to it almost every night to help her get to sleep. Enjoy!

There’s more to the swamplands than meets the teeth. In this supernatural tale of magic and mysticism, Henry Lemarchand grew up in Philadelphia knowing very little of his family—his father disappeared when he was young, leaving behind only a strange pouch of animal teeth. When he is sent to the Louisiana bayou to spend the summer with his eccentric uncle and cousin in their decaying ancestral mansion, Henry learns about his family’s supernatural legacy.

My 2nd grader LOVES this story!!!
Revisado: 05-21-22
We have been playing audiobooks for our daughter for several years now at bedtime in place of lullabies or sound machine white noise because she likes to fall asleep listening to stories. She loves repetition and listens to the same story for months at a time. The other night, she wanted to find a new one to try, so since I have to wait for my monthly credit, it was narrowed down to “included with membership”. We came across this as a recommendation based off her other books of interest. She’s been listening to this every night for about a week now. She INSISTED we write an excellent review for it so everyone knows what a gem we found on audible. She’s a big fan of fantasy fiction, mystery, suspense and thriller. He gives this one 10 stars and 2 thumbs up. Highly recommended!

Good mystery for young readers
Revisado: 04-04-22
We read the two Winterborne books with our daughter when she was still 6. Got them from the library after learning she loved mysteries through Nancy Drew and the Clue Crew series and an audible book about the mystery of the silver buttons. She LOVED both Winterborne books, so I got them on audible so she could listen to them at night to fall asleep. We’ve had them on here for a while now. She loves them and requests them more than any other audible book. There’s some talk of blood and I think I recall some unsavory language and behaviors as well, but if you’re good at communicating with your children about that and what you expect from them regardless of fictional characters in a story, you should be fine with 6-12yo kids listening to this story. My nephew who just turned 7 was scared of this one because they talk about someone covered in blood in one part. So as long as you know your audience and know what genre they’re into, it should be fine.

Revisado: 09-11-21
My 7yo is a huge fantasy fiction fan and even though this wasn’t in my audible library, for some reason, it started playing after The Worst Warlock the other night. My daughter ran to me the next morning thanking me for the new book about fairies. I was confused, and when I saw the last played book, I saw it. So I added it to the library and she’s been listening to it every night when the lights are off. She said it’s way less “dark” than the Worst Warlock, but she is good with dark somewhat scary and weird stories. If you have kids in that age group that enjoy fantasy fiction stories, we recommend this one. And if they also like darker and weird stuff along the lines of Coraline and Nightmare Before Christmas, we also recommend Worst Warlock. Enjoy!!!

I hope this becomes a movie
Revisado: 04-10-21
This story was so full of drama, family dysfunction, cringy moments, tender moments, hope, perseverance, and many other things that really kept me coming back. It’s a beautiful story that breaks your heart but gives you hope that even in the worst storms in life, love and forgiveness from the heart always wins. After hearing this on my walks and during my toddler’s naps all week, I would love to see this story adapted into a movie.

Captivating fairytale for 8+
Revisado: 01-12-21
I downloaded this book for my 6yo who loves fantasy fiction and always wants to listen to audiobooks in the car. I wasn’t expecting this to capture my (39yo) attention the way it did nor did I expect my 1st grader to lose interest. I just had to keep going with it to see what would happen next. After listening to the entire story, I am glad she stopped listening to it fairly early into the book as there are some violent themes and things that could cause nightmares for someone that young. Definitely 8 would be a great age to listen to this book. Enjoy!
