Strike books are some of my favorites to listen to
Revisado: 08-31-22
I have always love the narration and if I read the text I hear the voices of Cormoran and Robin.
But this book is so different. It is just as wonderful but impossible to listen to.
It’s about some online gaming and animation sites. So there are in game chats on different channels happening simultaneously. No way you can get the reference in the simultaneous chats by listening to the audio

Private Detective Cormoran Strike is visiting his family in Cornwall when he is approached by a woman asking for help finding her mother, Margot Bamborough - who went missing in mysterious circumstances in 1974. Strike has never tackled a cold case before, let alone one 40 years old. But despite the slim chance of success, he is intrigued and takes it on; adding to the long list of cases that he and his partner in the agency, Robin Ellacott, are currently working on.

Another Fantastic Strike Novel
Revisado: 01-10-21
I enjoyed this as much as the other four Cormoran Strike novels. I was thrilled that the book was 900+ pages--more to enjoy!
I bought the book and the audible. I could look back in the text to review characters and I could see the diagrams done by the police detective. I listened to the other four and so enjoyed them so I wanted to listen to this one also. The narration is perfection--each character has their own personality. Listening to different accents is much better than trying to read them correctly.
The story is so well developed and written--just like all her other books. The characters detailed--you feel like you are living the story along with them.
Can't wait for the BBC series to come out.

Best book I have ever listened to!
Revisado: 08-28-19
And I have listened to a lot of books. The premise is fascinating ,the story line is believable and the writing is extremely descriptive. I enjoyed the adventures in Brazil
as well as the legal cases at home. Every page was engaging. I don’t know how I did not read this novel years ago. I’m gonna go back and see if there are any other Grisham novels that I missed along the way.

Historia
It is 1988. On a dead-end street in a run-down suburb there is a music shop that stands small and brightly lit, jam-packed with records of every kind. Like a beacon, the shop attracts the lonely, the sleepless, and the adrift; Frank, the shop's owner, has a way of connecting his customers with just the piece of music they need. Then, one day, into his shop comes a beautiful young woman, Ilse Brauchmann, who asks Frank to teach her about music.

I never wanted it to end!
Revisado: 01-31-18
I absolutely loved this book. The story was so interesting and very well written. I would sometimes find myself totally involved with the characters and what was happening--lost track of time and where I was driving in the car!
The narrator did a great job--in fact, I am not recommending the print versions to my friends. They have to hear "Kit"
I loved the descriptions of the music. I wish I knew someone like Frank to transport me into his world.
I never listen to a book twice but I will wait a few months and savour this one again.

Historia
Jazz Bashara is a criminal. Well, sort of. Life on Artemis, the first and only city on the moon, is tough if you're not a rich tourist or an eccentric billionaire. So smuggling in the occasional harmless bit of contraband barely counts, right? Not when you've got debts to pay and your job as a porter barely covers the rent. Everything changes when Jazz sees the chance to commit the perfect crime, with a reward too lucrative to turn down.

Reader beware this is NOT The Martian
Revisado: 11-17-17
I am really enjoying the science and the overall story of Artemis. I am not enjoying the sketchy morality, however. The Martian could be enjoyed by adults as well as young adults. I am a high school science teacher and I have to warn my students not to read this book. They just don't need to hear this.
Rosario Dawson is terrific as the narrator! I wish Weir had just written the story about a feisty young woman living on the moon. I really like the descriptions of the life on the moon and the science is creative and accurate. The characters are interesting and I like the "pen pal" letters.

More poetic than I expected
Revisado: 11-21-16
Would you try another book from Robin Oliveira and/or Kimberly Farr?
I would probably not try another book. I didn't really like the narration either. I expected a story about a woman trying to be a surgeon during the Civil War. The book got boring for me because the language was too poetic for the subject matter. I could not wait for it to be over.
What was one of the most memorable moments of My Name Is Mary Sutter?
I liked the parts that were more historical in nature.

Historia
A romantic pause-resister propelled by the 60-year secret that has shaped two families, four lovers, and one seaside resort community. Set against dramatic Mediterranean Sea views and lush olive groves, The Rocks opens with a confrontation and a secret: What was the mysterious, catastrophic event that drove two honeymooners apart so suddenly and absolutely in 1948 that they never spoke again despite living on the same island for 60 more years? And how did their history shape the Romeo and Juliet-like romance of their (unrelated) children decades later?

Interesting format
Revisado: 09-15-15
Where does The Rocks rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?
This book is one of my favorites this year
What was one of the most memorable moments of The Rocks?
When LuLu just jumps off the sailboat when she does not want to go out for a sail--it was one of the only places I admired her.
What about Steve West’s performance did you like?
He gave a voice to each character which made it easier to follow them through the years.
Any additional comments?
This story made me laugh, cry a little and very angry at times with the characters . I found the writing format very intriguing. Going back in time in each part was so interesting!

Each of the Maguire brothers has his own driving, single-minded obsession. For Jonathan it is his magnificent, talented, and desirable wife, Harriet. For Roger it is the elaborate universe he has constructed in a shed in their parents' garden, populated by millions of tiny insects. While Jonathan's pursuit of Harriet leads him to feelings of jealousy and anguish, Roger's immersion in the world he has created reveals a capability and talent that are absent from his everyday life.
