Historia
John Charles Ryle’s best known works have been reissued and widely read over many years. The fine qualities of his writings have ensured that his books are still popular and useful. This volume has become a classic work and is known and loved by many throughout the world. In days when evangelical preachers are accused of being either superficial or dull, we have here a great example of one who was neither of these things. As Bishop Ryle applies his texts, the listener will find his soul examined.

Great work for edification and understanding Christianity
Revisado: 02-14-25
Excellent for edifying the believer and helping the non-believer see Christ how He should be seen. Had to go back and re-listen often to make sure I was catching what Ryle was saying in full. Could be listened to several times I’m sure and new insights gleaned every time. Recommend for everyone who’s wanting to understand Christian faith and living it out more practically.

Historia
Fueled by a passion for running dogs, Gary Paulsen entered the Iditarod - the 1,180-mile sled-dog race through the Alaskan wilderness - in dangerous ignorance and with a fierce determination. For 17 days, he and his team of dogs endured blinding wind, snowstorms, frostbite, dogfights, moose attacks, sleeplessness, hallucinations - and the relentless push to go on.

In-depth book on the Iditarod
Revisado: 01-30-25
This is definitely an in-depth book about running the Iditarod, what that means for the individual, the dogs and how it can change a person. I’ve always been interested in sled dog racing and have loved the Iditarod race. I’ll admit this took a bit of the magic out of it so be prepared for that if you read this book as it’s got some graphic descriptions and difficult to hear stories, as well as maybe a bit too much on peeing (dogs and humans.) Overall good though and liked the narrator.

This beloved book, a modern classic of Christian testimony and devotion, addresses these and other vital questions, showing us how we can rejuvenate our prayer life, meditate more reverently, understand God more deeply, and experience God's presence in our daily lives.

Excellent Tozer work
Revisado: 01-14-25
Tozer is right in his statement that majesty has been lost in the modern world and he wasn’t even speaking about our current day. Listening to this you can’t help but come to see God in ways that restore that sense of majesty and awe. Incredible book and good narration.

Historia
The epic true story of an extreme athlete, a stray dog, and how they found each other—now a major motion picture from Lionsgate starring Mark Walhberg and Simu Liu. When you're racing 435 miles through the jungles and mountains of South America, the last thing you need is a stray dog tagging along. But that's exactly what happened to Mikael Lindnord, captain of a Swedish adventure racing team, when he threw a scruffy but dignified mongrel a meatball one afternoon.

Incredible story of Arthur
Revisado: 12-28-24
What an amazing story about a dog and the bond between him and the man who rescued him. I decided to listen to this on a whim and am glad I did. This is an incredibly written, detailed book about Mikael story of how he met Arthur, his life of adventure racing and what Arthur came to mean to him, his family and everyone around them. Narration was also excellent and fit well for the book. Mikael and Arthur truly have a wonderful bond and you can tell how much this dog changed his life and affected his heart. And no, I don’t believe the fake press about him taking the dog away from anyone in Ecuador. Listen to this story and it’s 100% clear what the truth is. Arthur was an abused, neglected stray and he went with Mikael because they found each other at exactly the right time when Arthur needed help. It’s a moving book full of heart, love for animals and intense determination.

Incredible tale of a horse's life
Revisado: 12-11-24
This story is even better than I remember it. The movies over the years have done it some justice but in this case the book is truly the best. The excellent details about horses and how lives revolve around them, their care and what their inner lives may be like is incredibly insightful, Love the book and even more so with the excellent narration, he really brought the characters to life and had a perfect voice for Black Beauty.

Historia
Told for the first time, here is the story of a stray dog who eventually became affectionately known as Sergeant Stubby, the most famous war dog of World War I. Beloved award-winning children's author Ann Bausum brings her friendly writing style and in-depth research to her first book for adults. Stubby's story begins in 1917 when America is about to enter the war. A stray dog befriends Private J. Robert "Bob" Conroy at the Connecticut National Guard camp at Yale University, and the two become inseparable, eventually crossing an ocean and going to war together.

Moving tribute
Revisado: 12-02-24
Incredibly researched book about a dog, the war and the bonds between animals and soldiers that can impact so many lives. Much of the book does focus on the war vs on Stubby as the writer admits there isn’t too much available on what Stubby does during particular moments but I didn’t find this a problem. To me the war writing was impeccably detailed and insightful. Any information given about Stubby was a fun glimpse into the life of a canine hero that remains much an enigma today but still respected for his bravery and as the book shows, commitment and love towards his human companions. Narration was great and I’d recommend this to anyone who appreciates war history and animal heroes.

Revisado: 11-22-24
No idea why this went so far off but it lost me when it started talking about sexual practices relating to children. Bordered on pedophilia practically and wasn’t exactly dismissing it but acting as if that’s just some normal part of experimenting, simply disgusting. Let’s not justify harming children because we want to be inclusive and say all sexual proclivities are acceptable. Completely awful.

A good classic for a classic’s sake but overall the story drags for me. Armitage is a good narrator and brings depth to the voices, I simply lost interest after awhile in the story itself.

Revisado: 11-14-24
I’ve always wanted to get into the Sherlock stories but had trouble with knowing where to start, turns out audio is where it’s at. This really is a definitive collection and listening to the stories be told this way brought them to life in a spectacular fashion. Fry’s narration is perfect for Holmes and Watson and he brought some great subtle changes between each individual side character as well. Overall a great listen, highly recommend!
