Wait for a sale, it's not worth the hype.
Revisado: 01-11-25
Unfortunately this is more word vomit in unnecessary places. The first 50hrs will have you dazzled with the same old thoughts and conversations as the previous 2 books. Then you finally get to characters and arca that are new and vibrant and boom cliffs edge and you're back in hashed out mental problems or token anxiety that literally every piece of content sounds like. Like someone saying they are making your favorite stew to only surprise you with a different recipe that is somehow both overly herbaceous and completely lacking of depth in flavor and smell. I know there are some who will enjoy the overplayed narratives but for a story with so much quality meat and veg to be lacking in depth with over 60hrs in which to enjoy it is honestly crazy work and hecking disappointing. Much like some of the characters ends, I know not if I'll ever return to walk these stones again.

Still no REAL character development
Revisado: 10-11-24
At some point an overpowered and overly anxious boy needs to become a man. 10 books in and he's literally the same boy he was on day 1 but with enough power to level God's. He has spent at this point decades in slow time but acts like he's a boy who has only been around for 2 decades. When will there be consequences for actions that actually hurt main characters? This series went from feeling like satur

9th book in, no character development
Revisado: 05-10-24
this series used to feel like a Saturday morning cartoon but dang does this newest title leave me bitter. by this point the main character has endured dozens of years of trial and error but fails to ever actually show signs of age and maturity. I'm not wanting to lose the carefree personas of the crew but at the same time the people they were in book 1 is the exact people they are in book 9. the same jokes, the same predictable dang near repeating banter, the same quips and woes. and to rub salt into the wounds of these linear character interactions, we are forced to listen to the main characters indecision and lack of character growth at every single corner. how much self aggrandizing reassurance does one man need to make one choice and then why do we have to go through that same lamenting for the next action sequence. Ill probably come back to this series with the next book but IDK if I can go through another 20hrs of whiny when choices hardly have consequences.

Revisado: 01-09-23
Finally this series actively tries to make the story about the story and not all the bs real world politics that suffocate so many authors minds. the first few books in the series had me saying I'm good on the rest of the series but this one actually makes me want to read the next, well played gamers well played.

Horrible audio levels
Revisado: 08-16-21
This is a headphones only book and that is why I have given it a low rating. I haven't finished it and idk if I will finish it. When I listen to audio books is while I drive and I have a loud truck. most books I have little problem hearing but this one is next to impossible to hear when the main two characters are speaking bec the author's voice becomes so light and breathy. When I can hear him he sounds great and there is a wide range of voices but I found it next to impossible to hear most of what the main characters said and by the time I was over 50% done I realized I had absolutely no idea what was going on. This is probably more of a me issue but if the publisher company can't adjust audio levels correctly or the narrator pulls back from the mic for certain voices it ruins the experience. I was very excited when I found there was a prequel series of thrawn by the same author but I will either have to wait until a big garden project or read it physically to actually enjoy the story, which is very sad and disheartening for someone who primarily listens while I drive for work. I feel like this could be a really great book and great narration but not being able to hear it with my speakers maxed is a total buzz kill and made me just quit listening to it. For reference I listen to 35-50 audio books a year and maybe 1 out of those has this issue with hard to hear audio levels. For this having a full production it is sad that no one listened to the finally product and adjusted the softer voices up or the louder voices down. If you have headphones or a quiet space I'm sure this will be a good listen but if not might not be worth using a credit on at this point in time.

main character is basically a more intelligent and less courageous Naruto, just flip the charisma and wisdom stats. the world is vastly more interesting than many of the lit RPGs with an interesting world dynamic that draws off fantasy epics rather than video game legends

the first book in this collection was really good and followed the story of those from the first collection. but the 2nd story in the collection was kinda hard to keep up with. they kept switching perspectives and it made it difficult to follow whom side we were listening to at any individual part, especially the next day. overall very excited to keep reading this series and the combat scenes of the latter space battles are something I imagine many people will enjoy even if I prefer the ground battles more

fun addition to the series!
Revisado: 07-05-21
This was a fun book and Luke Daniels does an amazing job as always. I read some other reviews and they seem to be annoyed with Rockies anger management issues, which I can understand to a point but firmly believe that is character development and I'm here for it. the rage the author created for rocky is something I'd like to keep reading about. too often books in this genre have overall nice, far to clever and self righteous leads that I'm enjoying seeing a character is who is kinda dumb, more jock than not and filled with angst filled anger. hope to see a lot of character progression and creative story telling around his anger for the reality he was dropped in!
