When her brother ships out to serve in Vietnam, she joins the Army Nurse Corps and follows his path.

Annoying narrator
Revisado: 12-28-24
It took a while to get used to the narrator. I almost stopped altogether, she was so annoying, but I like the author. I won't listen again though.

Historia
Cleary, North Carolina, is a sleepy mountain town, the kind of place where criminal activity is usually limited to parking violations. Not so, lately. Four women have disappeared from Cleary over the past two years. And there's always a blue ribbon left near the spot where each of the women was last seen. There are no bodies, no other clues, and no suspicion as to who their abductor might be. And now, another woman has disappeared without a trace.

Way too much use of the f word. Some might have been in context, but it began to distract from the story. Liked the twists and turns and how it all tied together. But not so much f word. Ugh!

Story is great -- narrator not so much
Revisado: 03-01-22
I was tempted to send this recording back because the narrator was so annoying. But I like John Grisham's books so I gritted my teeth and stuck it out. Glad I did. The story was fascinating. Typical Grisham.

If she said "Layne" one more time . . .
Revisado: 09-13-21
So annoying. How many times did Rocky have to whine Layne's name. I had to quit listening. Literally. I didn't finish. I pushed through once before because the story was compelling and the characters were colorful, but the second time through, I had to stop or throw my phone out the window. I wanted to smack her for whining.
