Historia
In 1989 Ken Follett astonished the literary world with The Pillars of the Earth, set in 12th-century England. Readers and listeners ever since have hoped for a sequel. At last, here it is. Although the two novels may be listened to in any order, World Without End also takes place in Kingsbridge, two centuries after the townspeople finished building their exquisite Gothic cathedral. The cathedral is again at the center of a web of love and hate, greed and pride, ambition and revenge.

Historia
Here is Trump in action—how he runs his organization and how he runs his life—as he meets the people he needs to meet, chats with family and friends, clashes with enemies, and challenges conventional thinking. But even a maverick plays by rules, and Trump has formulated time-tested guidelines for success. He isolates the common elements in his greatest accomplishments; he shatters myths; he names names, spells out the zeros, and fully reveals the deal-maker's art. And throughout, Trump talks—really talks—about how he does it.

extremely well written, extremely well narrated!
Revisado: 10-06-24
anyone with so much as an ounce of entrepreneurial spirit should listen to this audiobook. it is extremely well written, and the narrator makes you feel like you are sitting down over a cup of coffee, just chatting away. Donald Trump is one of a kind, but he certainly has a way of encouraging the reader or listener in this case, to think big!

Historia
Washington, DC, 1950. Everyone keeps to themselves at Briarwood House, a down-at-the-heels all-female boardinghouse in the heart of the nation’s capital where secrets hide behind white picket fences. But when the lovely, mysterious widow Grace March moves into the attic room, she draws her oddball collection of neighbors into unlikely friendship. Grace’s weekly attic-room dinner parties and window-brewed sun tea become a healing balm on all their lives, but she hides a terrible secret of her own.

Everything I expected from a Quinn/Maarleveld pairing and MORE!
Revisado: 09-07-24
having listened to several titles of this author/narrator pairing, I naturally had high expectations and I'm happy to report that this latest title did not disappoint! as per usual, the plot was perfectly entwined with historical and cultural topics and meticulously researched. Also per usual, I found myself escaping everyday interactions so I could sneak away to listen to this story whenever and wherever possible. Quinn creates such relatable, memorable, familiar yet unique and distinct characters, that continue to live in our hearts as if they truly live among us. The narration, always flawless technically, and brilliant artistically. I have no clue as to why Saskia hasn't won multiple titles for best narrator. Nonetheless, Quinn/Maarleveld are my favorite and I look forward to their next masterpiece!

exceeded my expectations
Revisado: 08-30-24
full disclosure, Condoleezza Rice is someone I consider to be one of the most intelligent, talented, poised, and admirable people ever to serve the United States. in my highly biased opinion, this memoir should serve as the blueprint by which every United States Secretary of State should operate. I had high expectations when I started this title and am happy to report that every expectation was exceeded.

Historia
In 1967, not long after the Six-Day War, three young Arab men ventured into the town of Ramle, in what is now Jewish Israel. They were cousins, on a pilgrimage to see their childhood homes; their families had been driven out of Palestine nearly 20 years earlier. One cousin had a door slammed in his face, and another found his old house had been converted into a school. But the third, Bashir Al-Khairi, was met at the door by a young woman called Dalia, who invited them in.

Not the balanced story I hoped for
Revisado: 02-19-24
truly disappointed in this one. I had hoped for an even-handed, balanced, and honest portrayal. The author presents a highly sanitized version of one side, while apologizing for the sins of the other. I forced myself to listen until the end in the hope that there would be some sort of redemption, but there was none.

Historia
In the late hours of July 22, 1991, Detective Patrick "Pat" Kennedy of the Milwaukee Police Department was asked to respond to a possible homicide. Little did he know that he would soon be delving into the dark mind of one of America's most notorious serial killers, the "Milwaukee Cannibal", Jeffrey Dahmer. Kennedy spent the next six weeks locked in an interrogation room with Dahmer. There, the killer described in lurid detail how he lured 17 young men to his apartment, where he strangled, sexually assaulted, dismembered, and in some cases, cannibalized his victims.

truly a well-written account
Revisado: 02-09-24
This title was extremely well composed and informative. The narrator and the author have teamed up to find the balance between the clinical description of one of the most notorious serial killers in history, and the humanistic side of a truly gruesome tale.

Marc Guss’s advice is impeccable; he says the things no one else in show business will, things that those who want into the business need to know. He has a heck of a story to tell. It is powerful, outspoken talk from a widely recognized agent on how to master the industry using an entrepreneur’s specific skill set. Guss shares deeply personal experiences from the trenches, experiences he has shared with such eminent names as Lauren Bacall, Floyd Mayweather Jr., Christopher Reeve, Quentin Tarantino, Whoopi Goldberg, Dr. Phil, and others.

Historia
William Barr’s first tenure as attorney general under President George H.W. Bush was largely the result of chance, while his second tenure under President Donald Trump a deliberate and difficult choice. In this candid memoir, Barr takes listeners behind the scenes during seminal moments of the 1990s, from the LA riots to Pan Am 103 and Iran Contra. Thirty years later, Barr faced an unrelenting barrage of issues, such as Russiagate, the COVID outbreak, civil unrest, the impeachments, and the 2020 election fallout.

a most fair and equitable account!
Revisado: 03-13-22
what a remarkable life and career this man has led (thus far.) I half expected this to be primarily critical of Trump, and I typically shy away from that type of title, but my curiosity, which was based on Barr's media and congressional appearances was rewarded. this is part history lesson, part legal lesson, part memoir, all mixed with anecdotes that are quite interesting. "One Damn Thing After Another" is indeed.... a perfectly titled memoir.
