Very good, but too long
Revisado: 04-22-25
As usual, I enjoyed Phaedra Patrick’s writing. This book had a good message, but I felt that it was too long. I ended up skipping some chapters just past the middle.

Too much Old Testament
Revisado: 04-15-25
Especially at the end, this book reads as anti-Muslim. Contemporary portions are far-fetched and frankly, quite ridiculous!

Promising plot didn’t deliver
Revisado: 11-27-24
The narrator’s French was very good. Although the plot was promising, the repetitive incidents of drinking wine got old. I didn’t finish it.

Original plot; rather depressing
Revisado: 04-22-24
The book was very well written, and the story original. However, I was expecting more emphasis on life during the blitz and more of a murder mystery from the plot summary. And the book was a bit too depressing for me with regards to the main character’s mental health.

Fantastic Collection!
Revisado: 10-04-22
These authors have done an amazing job of continuing Miss Marple’s sleuthing from post-WW2 through the sixties. Amazingly, the different narrators were excellent, with the exception of one, who read fluently and expressively, but was too abrasive to enjoy. All of the authors are talented writers, and the variety of tales was wonderful. I highly recommend this book and audiobook.

Poor choice of narrator
Revisado: 05-24-22
The story is good for its genre. However, when choosing a narrator for a story that takes place in Scotland, the producers need to find someone who can read with a Scots and British accent!

Historia
At the height of WWII, five idealistic young Americans receive a mysterious letter from the OSS, asking them if they are willing to fight for their country. The men and women from very different backgrounds - a Texan athlete with German roots, an upper-crust son of a French mother and a wealthy businessman, a dirt-poor Midwestern fly fisherman, an orphaned fashion designer, and a ravishingly beautiful female fencer - all answer the call of duty, but each for a secret reason of his or her own. They bond immediately, in a group code-named Dragonfly.

Narrators mispronounce most French words!
Revisado: 05-15-22
The story is quite good and gives a different insight on allied spy cells and German officers sympathetic to the Allies than most WW2 novels. However, most of the narrators poorly pronounce the many French words and expressions, which I found incredibly annoying. Shame on the producers for choosing poorly prepared/informed narrators! Overall, the narration was fair, but I would probably recommend fellow listeners to read the book in lieu of listening to it.
