Historia
The internationally bestselling Stone Man series returns! The five battered survivors of the Fifth Arrival have reached the Isle of Skye, only to face an impossible mission: destroy the Barrier that has trapped the country and stop the ever-growing army of Stone Men. The survival of humanity itself hangs in the balance, and though they’ve been given their greatest weapon yet, our heroes must first learn how to wield it... before time runs out.

Another Great Ride with Luke Smitherd
Revisado: 11-14-24
I have enjoyed all of the books in The Stone Man series, and this latest work is by far my favorite. Luke Smitherd writes with a narrative-driven style that beautifully lends itself to the Audible format, and Matt Addis does a great job of narrating.
This book took me on a journey with familiar characters as they navigate devastated inner and outer landscapes. The relentless stomping of the Stone Men propels this book, and I found myself deciding to "listen to just one more chapter before bed" until the very late hours! This was a satisfying last (?) installment of the series, and I'm intrigued by imagining what might happen to our favorite characters after this story.
Strongly recommend this series to anyone interested in thoughtful science fiction with deeply human characters. Yes, there are also Stone Men. This story balances their over-arching menace against the struggle of the characters to retain their humanity, humor, and will to persevere. A great listen.

Historia
There are some odd things about Nate’s new apartment. Of course, he has other things on his mind. He hates his job. He has no money in the bank. No girlfriend. No plans for the future. So while his new home isn’t perfect, it’s livable. The rent is low, the property managers are friendly, and the odd little mysteries don’t nag at him too much. At least, not until he meets Mandy, his neighbor across the hall, and notices something unusual about her apartment. And Xela’s apartment. And Tim’s. And Veek’s.

Loved it
Revisado: 04-13-23
This is a well-crafted story with fun narration. It has elements of puzzle / escape mechanics as in “Lost”, along with quirky characters and Lovecraftian elements. I found the audiobook to be a great ride.

Historia
On the evening of November 24, 1971, D. B. Cooper hijacked Flight 305—Portland to Seattle—with a fake bomb, collected a ransom of $200,000, and then parachuted from the rear of the plane, disappearing into the night...and into history. Fifty years later, Agent Pendergast takes on a bizarre and gruesome case: in the ghost-haunted city of Savannah, Georgia, bodies are found with no blood left in their veins—sowing panic and reviving whispered tales of the infamous Savannah Vampire.

Great book with horrible narration
Revisado: 09-15-21
I enjoyed this book as much as the other Pendergast titles, and found the storyline to be well crafted. I've listened to a lot of audio book titles, and the narration on this one is particularly problematic. As indicated in other reviews, the accents are a little peculiar and don't correspond with the characters or locales. My largest complaint is the way the narrator modulates his voice level from near-shouting to a low whisper. It made listening to the book difficult, as I was constantly having to adjust the playback volume. As an audio engineer, I wanted to extract the audio from this file and run it through a 4:1 compressor to deal with the wild fluctuations in volume. I'm surprised this wasn't done in post-production before releasing the title.
