Historia
In 1961, the new president John F. Kennedy, inherited an ill-conceived, poorly executed invasion of Cuba that failed miserably and set in motion the events that put the U.S. and the Soviet Union on a collision course that nearly started a war that would have enveloped much of the world. Extensively researched and vividly imagined, The Shadow of War brings to life the many threads that lead to the building crisis between the Soviet Union and the United States in 1962.

A Thrilling Account of a Frightening Time
Revisado: 05-19-24
Having lived through the Cuban Missile Crisis as a young boy, I still felt captivated by Jeff Shaara's account of an event in human history that could have resulted in the start of World War III. It brought back many memories of what we went through and made one realize just how close we came to a nuclear war with the Soviet Union. Paul Michael, as always, delivered a stirring narration that puts both he and the author at the top of my list of favorite audiobook teams. I look forward to their next project.

As Expected..Great!
Revisado: 10-18-16
Where does The Magnolia Story rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?
It ranks as one of my favorites, right next to my own audiobook.
What did you like best about this story?
Like their TV show their story is down to earth and honest with a great sense of humor added in for good measure.
Which character – as performed by Chip Gaines and Joanna Gaines – was your favorite?
Not to take anything away from Joanna because she's awesome, I tend to like Chip a little better only because I can relate to him a little better because he's a guy and so am I.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
Not at first but I got so caught up in listing to it I couldn't help myself and took it all in in one sitting. I have never done that before.
Any additional comments?
I have been a huge fan of Joanna and Chip right from the very first show. I have watched every show many time over and never get tired of it. When I saw that they had written a book I couldn't wait to down load it and listen. It didn't disappoint. Like their show I only wish it were longer because I can never get enough of Fixer Upper. Great job Joanna and Chip!

Historia
Eating Trees is a rags-to-riches-to-rags story of an ordinary working guy who suddenly has an extraordinary idea. Nick Cerelli has always been "big-boned," as he and his family refer to their tendency to put on weight. He works hard as a laborer but never seems to get ahead until he makes an observation one day while working on a construction job: Fine sawdust feels like flour. "See, my big idea was to make some kinda diet Twinkie outta sawdust. Really. And why not?

A marvelously fun story
Revisado: 10-04-14
Would you listen to Eating Trees again? Why?
I have listened to Eating Trees three times now and never get tired of how Al Benelli brings Jeff Koppelson’s characters to life. Al has done a masterful job of bringing Nick and company alive with his ability to show their true character with his talented voice.
What was one of the most memorable moments of Eating Trees?
There are many memorable parts of Eating Trees starting with the very beginning as we learn who Nick is to his never ending optimism at the end. My favorite part was Nick dealing with the lawyer who was trying to get his statement prior to going to trial over his cookie venture. Classic stuff.
Which character – as performed by A. T. Al Benelli – was your favorite?
No question, Nick. You have to admire his never ending optimism.
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
I laughed like hell. I was a little sad about how it ended but that’s life and Jeff Koppelson told the story of a typical dream gone bad very well.
Any additional comments?
I look forward to more great stories from Jeff Koppelson and Al Benelli. They are both great talents in their own rights.
