1000 Splendid Suns that crush your soul

The title of this book should be A Thousand Splendid Suns That Rain Down Hellfire To Crush Your Soul and Break Your Spirit. Fifty-one chapters, each more soul-crushing than the last. I should have realized the author wrote the Kite Runner and saved myself from this book.

The narrator was wonderful. Wonderful voice, subtle and effective character distinction and she brought the hellfire to life.

Now, I'm teaching my dog to talk!

I've been watching Stella and Christina on instagram for a few years, captivated by their relationship and communication. This book gives the background, journey and how to's. I love that Christina shared her speech therapy insights and how she applied that to working with Stella. I got the buttons and have started working with my dog. He hasn't started talking yet...but I've noticed that he's much more communicative with me - using more eye contact, gestures, and verbalizations. And I'm more communicative with him. That in itself is a gift!

The narrator is great...I hear Christina in her. Ann Marie Gideon makes no distractions...making the book easy to listen to and easy to understand.

So interesting

People make way more sense to me now! I love that the book cuts to the chase. However, it speaks in broad terms and intellectually. I would have liked a more detail, more examples and more practical application. It would have been very helpful to have had more details about what to say and how to say "it" to a narcissist...rather than an intellectual over view of the items that should be included in conversations.

The narrator is very dull, almost hypnotizing...making it had to pay attention to the content.

Good Basic Overview of Microbiome

It's all the basics. If you use only conventional medicine and know very little about the microbiome, this is for you. If you already know that a stunted microbiome is linked to lots of autoimmune disease and to skip antibiotics, eat lots of organic fruits and vegetables, skip antibacterial body care products, and roll in the dirt, then there's not much for you in this book.

Book does include lots of recipes.

Narrator is robotic and might actually be AI.

Interesting story, bad recording

This book is presented in a documentary style, with the narrator telling the story, supported by inserts of recordings of people related to the story. Most of the historic recordings are of poor quality and the format makes it difficult to follow the story.

Terrible! The recording and approach are Terrible!

The narrator is unintelligible and the recording is terrible. I am an experienced Hindi speaker and I got this audio book to brush up on phrases. When the narrator speaks a phrase, it's impossible to distinguish his Hindi pronunciation...where does a word begin and end? Was that a Ba, Pa, Ta or Da sound? He speaks the phrases so quickly there is no time to repeat the phrase. And to top it off...he only repeats each phrase twice, I could never reproduce the phrase.

The title says "Master Hindi Vocabulary and Verbs." There is never a discussion of vocabulary or verbs...just an English phrase, followed by an unintelligible Hindi phrase, repeated twice...then another English phrase followed by a Hindi phrase...

Returning. Don't waste your money or your time.

The topic sounded so interesting...and I tried to listen. But after 2 chapters, I couldn't stand it any more. The narrator has such a breathy, soft, dramatic voice...perfect for erotica, but completely undermined the content and author's credibility. Returned.

I'm not a gamer, but I loved it!

Before I listened to the book, I read some reviews that said this book was only for gamers and if you aren't a gamer, you wouldn't like the book. Well, I'm not a gamer, and I loved it.

The story was full of suspense, mystery and puzzles. The main character was very developed, so I got to know him very well. The scenes, environment, puzzles and characters were described in rich detail, so I felt like I was really there. The gaming elements were also very detailed, so I was able to follow the action. During the story, I alternated between binge listened because I loved it, and taking breaks because I didn't want it to end.

Will Wheaton pulled me in so I was completely involved in the story. No over acting. No monotone. No crazy voices or false accents. No weird pauses or pace. Just perfection.

If you could sum up The Twelfth Insight in three words, what would they be?

Lots of people talk about spirituality, The 12th Insight gives practical advice and tools in fictional format. Very useful. And Bruce Thomas' narration was good too...differentiated the characters without overacting or melodrama.
