Historia
Perfect for fans of The One and Only Ivan, this irresistible debut novel combines plucky humor and a whole lot of heart in a story about the true meaning of family. Sometimes flying means keeping your feet on the ground...Born in a dismal room in a pet store, Alastair the African grey parrot dreams of escape to bluer skies. He'd like nothing more than to fly away to a palm tree with his beloved sister, Aggie. But when Aggie is purchased by 12-year-old Fritz, and Alastair is adopted by elderly dance-enthusiast and pie-baker Albertina Plopky, the future looks ready to crash-land.

Historia
Bronte Mettlestone is 10 years old when her parents are killed by pirates. This does not bother her particularly: Her parents ran away to have adventures when she was a baby. She has been raised by her aunt Isabelle, with assistance from the butler, and has spent a pleasant childhood of afternoon teas and riding lessons. Now, however, her parents have left detailed instructions for Bronte in their will. (Instructions that, annoyingly, have been reinforced with faery cross-stitch, which means that if she doesn't complete them, terrible things could happen!)

Homeschooling isn't always easy. There are hiccups and bumps, and there will be plenty of times that we doubt if we are really capable of teaching our kids well. In More than Enough, unexpected homeschooler of 12 years Kara Stephenson Anderson shares with warmth and honesty about real-life homeschooling. Written for any parent - those brand new to homeschooling and those who have been at this for years, More than Enough is a guide for putting connection ahead of perfection, letting go of standards and expectations, and living a life of learning and love together.

A Soothing Read
Revisado: 09-18-21
I love this book. I read and enjoyed the paperback copy, but after years of listening to the author on her podcast The Homeschool Sisters, I was thrilled to find this as an audiobook. It's even more wonderful to listen to Kara's encouragement in her own voice. She offers sound advice without judgement. I will listen to this again and again.

Historia
The last winged horses are on the brink of extinction. At a sanctuary for threatened creatures, the home of a young dragon rider and his silver dragon, three foals lie curled up in their eggs. The foals are in great danger, and the only cure seems to be the sun-feather of a griffin. But griffins, creatures with the head of an eagle and the body of a lion, are a dragon's fiercest enemy, and they live far across the world in the sweltering jungle. A dangerous and exciting adventure begins....

Good story
Revisado: 02-16-19
I enjoyed the story, though it was more about feelings than the first book. I think Brendan Fraser, who read the first book, was a better narrator.

Lady Emily Hardcastle is an eccentric widow with a secret past. Florence Armstrong, her maid and confidante, is an expert in martial arts. Mostly light fun
Revisado: 03-03-18
It was an engaging story, if a bit slow. There is a fair amount of effort spent trying to show that the employer/servant relationship is unusual between the Lady and Miss Ar!mstrong. It was fun, but I wouldn't necessarily read it again. The reader was wonderful, though.
